Time of high anxiety around the influence of technology on art and culture, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts Collider Fellowship Centered on new occasions, welcoming multi-disciplinary artists to find out how the emerging technology can change live performance and performance art.

Today, the famous New York Performing Arts Center is announcing its second class of Collider Fellow – a group of six artists ranging from virtual reality to artificial intelligence to Emergent 4DSON system.

“I think they are all really thoughtful people who are not only thinking about (work), but how it fits into a big conversation in art and technology,” said the vice president of Jordan Leh, programming of Lincoln Center.

Leh said that she is a “eternal optimistic” of how technology can benefit art. Asked about the widespread concerns around AI, he said that he is excited about the artists who use AI as “Another tool in his toolkit, such as a paint for a sound for sound or a paint gesture for paint.” He also suggested that for some artists, “Technology is holding their vision, vs. their vision is holding this technique.”

To clarify some of this capacity, Leh recently pointed to Lincoln Center Arts and Tech Commission, dream Machine By Nona Hendreex. Visitors, especially using a combination of AI, VR, and enriched reality to immerse visitors, in Afrofuturist environment, Leh said that Dream Machine shows how the art shows how art “who do not see themselves in technology, to start to see themselves – especially black and brown and brown women.”

He said, “I think the more people are part of the conversation, the more opportunity we will have a good conversation.”

The new collider, selected through a enrollment-based process, will continue to discover that capacity. For the next nine months, they will be provided with studio space at Lincoln Center and Onxis onxWith a financial stipend and support from the staff of Lincoln Center.

Collider Fellowship, Leh said, “is part of a comprehensive umbrella of programs, through which the performance art center wants to support artists by” non-trading “methods.”

In particular, the fellowship does not require participated artists to complete the final project or commission. Leh said that the first class of the collider Fellow included an artist who completed “five or six prototypes” during the program, while the second “wanted to rejuvenate this time, reading the tones of books, reading the tones of the research, to slow down – he said – he said that both the attitudes are” fully acceptable ways to use this fellowship. “

According to Leh, many projects originating from that first class are “still germination”, and some can be potentially shown in Lincoln Center. And when Leh described herself as “doubling location-based experiences”, especially included those including VR, AR, and extended reality, they also suggested that the colider Fellow could help the Lincoln center rethinks the methods that could reach the audience globally.

“I don’t think we’re closing the door to do anything right now,” he said.

Here are six new collider fellow, with brief description of their work:
