This is another step what Dashlen calls “streamlined” of its personal options, because the company focuses on advanced security options for business customers. This change comes on the heels of the earlier decision to eliminate monthly billing options and sell only annual dashlen membership.
It is not clear how many people will be affected by this decision. Dashlen’s free plan comes with significant boundaries – it allows to be used on only one device at a time, and users are limited to maximum 25 saved credentials. This is not a power user’s option, but it works for users who are not particularly active online. Most of the complaints on Dashlane Subreddit are from users who they see as consumer-anfriendly moves, including the price increase and what they describe as a decline in customer aid.
The restrictions are similar to those introduced in free schemes from commercial contestants. What happens to a dashlen free plan?
All current customers with a free scheme have been upgraded to the premium scheme test, with a proposal to save 50% on a membership Decade premium (Typically $ 60 per year) or friends family (Generally $ 90 per year). This proposal is good till August 12, and the fine print clearly makes the discount valid for only one year, with renewal at regular value.

After August 16, customers who chose not to upgrade will be unable to edit or see the data saved, but they will be able to export the contents of that vault for a year. By September 12, 2026, those passive vaults will be permanently removed.
How to transfer your data
If you are not interested in upgrading to a paid dashlen plan, then you have to export your password to a low-witted value (CSV) file and then import them to the password manager imported as a replacement.
In the dashlen web app on a PC or Mac, go to my account, click on settings, and then Export Data> Click Export on CSV. You have to unlock the vault with your master password or biometrics, after which the CSV file is saved to your default download location. Note that the file with exported credentials does not include passakies, and you need to export any saved attachments separately.

Password exports on mobile devices follow the same stages, but start with the Dashlen app instead of the web browser.
Note that the resulting CSV file is a plain text file and is not encrypted. Anyone who has access to that file can read and copy its content, so keep it carefully safe and remove it after importing its content in your new password manager.
