“Operation Eastwood”, an international law enforcement operation, has targeted the infrastructure and members of the Russian hauler group noname057 (16), responsible for the DDOs distributed in Europe, Israel and Ukraine.
Operation Eastwood was led by Europeol and Eurosest with the support of 12 countries. This happened on July 15, 2025, and targeted systems and individuals behind the group’s activities.
Noname057 (16) is a pro -Russian hacking group launched in March 2022 after the war started in Ukraine. To conduct the attacks, the group uses telegram channels and “DDOSIA” project, software that runs on the computer of volunteers, which is to crowdesource DDOS attacks on the targets chosen by the danger actors.
Since then, Noname057 (16) and its supporters have carried out DDOs attacks against companies and important infrastructure in European countries supporting Ukraine. These goals include NATO sites, government agencies, transport services, banks, defense firms, media outlets and energy suppliers.

“Attacks across Europe were also executed during the European elections. In Sweden, officials and bank websites were targeted, while in Switzerland, several attacks were carried out during a video message given by the Ukrainian President in the United Parliament in June 2023, and during the peace summit for Ukraine in June 2024.”

On July 15, law enforcement agencies discovered in Germany, Latvia, Spain, Italy, Chetchia, Poland and France, with over 100 server hosts infrastructure of the group, which disrupted or taken offline.
Two arrests have been made as this operation (1 preliminary arrest in France and 1 initial arrest in Spain), and seven European arrest warrants were issued, including six by Germany and one by Spain. Authorities also sent telegram messages to 1,100 participants and 17 administrators, warning them that they were facing criminal obligations for their works.
Six of the warrants issued by Germany are for individuals living in Russia, two of which were suspected to be the primary operator of the group.

The operation included laws from Chechia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.
Officials claim that Operation is a significant shock for Eastwood Noname057 (16). However, with core members located in Russia, this action is likely to have only a short -term impact, as the actor of the danger will possibly rebuild their infrastructure.
To date, the danger actors declare new attacks and violations of German companies.
