Millions of people are going to take photos and videos on their phone and share them on social media which will never require card reader. But if you are a professional photographer, videographer or drone operator, a card reader is part of your kit. And since it is something that directly touches your data, I am a fan to get a decent.
A wonderful bit of kit
For the last few weeks, I have been using Freewell pro readerA combination card reader and storage box, and this is a wonderful of the kit.
Pro reader really lives in his name, capable of reading CF Express A And CF Express B, Uh-i And UHS-II SD Card, and SDXC And SDHC MicroSD CardIt covers every storage card that you are going to find in use, from drones to mirrorless cameras to high-end video cameras.

The Pro reader has an underlying USB-C cable and uses USB 3.2 Gen 1 and Gen 2, which allows transfer speed up to 10GBPS, so you do not leave your thumb for a very long time.
Storage box for up to 13 cards
Another cool feature of the Pro reader setup is that it also works as a storage box for the card, which is capable of keeping a CF Express Type A and a CF Express Type B card, three SD cards, six microSD cards and two nano SIM cards for cell phones.
A bunch of card storage slots.

These are a total of 13 cards.

There is also a SIM-Eject tool, which can still switch the SIM card to equipment for international travelers.
The card reader/holder is placed in a touch aluminum and glass outer shell which prevents the reader – and your precious storage card – damage or damage. The exterior clip is safely, and a carbiner loop at one end to attach the pro -reader to something like backpack or camera bag.
The card reader comes with a carbinner and USB-C with USB-A adapter.

The unit is rather heavy (about 5 x 2 x 1 inch) and heavy (one third of a pound) but nothing that was a deal-breaker for me.
ZDNET purchase advice
Card readers fall into two categories: cheap or expensive.
At $ 99, Freewell pro reader Certainly not at the cheap end. But it is a supporter of the kit, who is thanks to the storage media, its performance and the ability to work with the fact that it can be home for a handful of cards.
