Software is available only to developers in beta form – soon with a public beta expectation – but Apple has already demonstrated many major features that come later with Macos Tahoe 26. Perhaps the most exciting of the bunch, if you remove liquid glass redesign, it is upgraded that is coming into the spotlight.
With Macos 26, the spotlight will be more than a search tool: it will also be able to launch apps and functions within those apps and also on clipboard content. It is also getting complete integration with shortcuts, therefore, any automation you set can be launched through a spotlight.

Apple says this The “biggest update” for the spotlight, with “wisely” rank results, support for the third-party cloud drive, and a browse scene that helps you see what is on your system, even if you don’t really know what you are looking at. App developers are also going to be able to support tasks through the spotlight, although your favorite apps may take some time before adding features.
Even with all these changes, the spotlight can be launched as before: through the magnifying glass icon on the menu bar (top right), or CMD+Location Or F4 keyboard shortcuts. Click on any of these shortcuts to start a browsing items in that category, with a sorting system that Apple says that becomes more individual over time. To see recent files on your Mac, select the file icon (folder symbol) for example. Other methods you can use it, set a timer for a specific period, and to add new text to an existing note. Everything works without lifting your fingers from the keyboard without you, and you do not necessarily need to switch to the related app (email can be sent by the spotlight in the background, for example).
Spotlight, depending on that mode, you may be able to reach more options by clicking on three dots in the upper right corner of the window. For example, in the case of clipboard, you can clean the clipboard history. When it comes to files and apps, you get some options shown on screen.
