Glow This year launched an Instagram option built on top of Bluusky Social Network. Now the app is available at the store, the app offers a different way to browse visual posts on Bluuski. Instead of seeing them in a timeline-like feed, similar to X, app takes inspiration from photo-based social networks like Instagram.
What can you post
The app is created by the developer in Berlin Sebstian vogelsingThe same underlying protocol runs on the same underlying protocol, the AT protocol (or ATProot For small). This means that it will be the same requirements around posting images and videos as you will find directly on the Blussky.
Originally, it meant that support to post four images and videos of one minute in length, but as Blussky version 1.99 update Released on March 10, users are able to upload videos for 3 minutes in length.

How Flash is like Instagram – and how it is different
Flash is somewhat similar to Instagram, as it offers a scrolling feed of photos and videos, user profiles and even photo filters to increase your images when posting.
Instead of starting their network from scratch, flash users are immediately taped into a broad bluely community, which is now over 37 million usersEven if not all the users of Bluuski are on the flash, their images and video apps will be displayed in the app, as it essentially filters the blossky feed for visual content.
When you post on the flash, it creates a post that also appears on the blue. (For that reason, you may want to create a secondary blue account if you want to keep two networks separate.)

In addition, the app lets you browse your own blossy feeds and select more than 50,000 custom feeds of Blussky, including focusing on special disciplines – such as art, bird, horticulture, or cat pics, for example – or dedicated to specific formats, such as video feeds.
As you browse through the post in the flash, you can prefer, repost, and answer them, as you can do on Bluuski. They will also appear in the interaction Bluuski app, while the interactions of the blue users will appear in the flash.
Photographers are looking for a place to show their work, flash will appreciate the ‘portfolio “feature.
To tag down this setting, you will go to your user profile to “Advanced” tab, then tap on “flash profile”. Here, there will be an option to enable portfolio, which lets you cure which images should appear on your flash user profile.
You can also adapt your user profile further by selecting or using other media filtering options to show or hide the choice, lists, and feeds.
how to start
To use flash, you will first need a blue account. If you already have one, you can sign in with those credentials.
If not, you can choose to sign up from within the flash app. The app defaults to set his account on the main Blussky Server, Bluesky.Social, but more technical users can opt for a custom hosting provider instead.
To create your account, you will need to provide an email address, password and date of birth, then accept the terms of the use, which means that you agree with the community guidelines and conditions of Bluusky.
Once signed in, you can immediately start browsing images and videos shared at your Blussky Timeline or any other blussy feed, or post your own media.
A membership may come
Vogelsing hopes that the flash will help to pull more users for the Bluusky community, including those who are not interested in Twitter/X-like experience. Instead, the app makes more appeal for people looking for open options for Meta’s Instagram.
This is not the only app building in this space, though. Another app working on similar experiences is Pinkski. Meanwhile, users of Mastodon’s social network may prefer PixeldWhich uses the activity protocol of the federes under the hood instead of the Blauski atpoto.

Over time, Vogelsang wants to add more features to flash, such as push notifications, support for many accounts, bookmarks and more editing options.
The plans to add membership with premium features are in tasks, which will help in funding Android and web development. These paid tier can also provide premium access to the third-party Blussky App of Vogelsing, DiligentAnd his video-centric app, blue screen,
Other planned features include iPad layout improvement, support for long videos, posts, posts that appear for batch image transfer from only a limited time (eg stories), albums and other platforms. Eventually, the developer would want to develop flash for its own being on the protocol-based platform, while still compatible with the network of Blussky.
The app is a free download from the app store and requires iOS 17 or higher to run it.
