The operation appears to be highly organized, in which fishing and online casinos offer illegal SEO services with groups such as “Neon SEO Academy” and “Selink”. With the search engine providers still in the dark, the operation has rooted in Türkiye, already promoting illegal businesses.

“So far, most of the activity seems to be centered around the Turkish market, mainly in online gambling and escort services,” Saborn said. “For search engines, there is no clear indication yet that they have been informed about these campaigns or how they have responded. At this point, addressing this type of ranking does not seem to be a public effort or statement from them while addressing.”

Field CTO Chris Gray in Deepwach believes SEO poisoning operations, such as hacklinks, fishing and smukhing operations. “Estimates would say that a trillion will exceed the fishing email sent this year, and these attacks are expected to be included in ~ 36% of all data violations,” Gray said. “SEO poisoning does not mean that these attacks will be more successful, but this means that there is more likely to have malicious links in legitimate communication.”
