A few years ago, with the release of the Kingdom of the Kingdom on the Nintendo switch, I finally decided to stop using Joy-Cers. Because if I was not in handheld mode, Nintendo’s Half-Palm-shaped controller was not just performing enough to get the goods.

Instead of buying an official pro controller, or some other licensed gamepad, I opted to do something different. The USB wireless adapter 2 of the 8bitdo allows the owners to use the owners about any Bluetooth controller that they like – including those made for the Xbox or PlayStation console.

I am happy to confirm that the adapter also works with Nintendo Switch 2 – but you will need to tamper a bit to work. Thankfully, it takes less than 5 minutes to solve it.

I have not created any secret that I struggle with Joy-Cons. They hurt my hands over the extended period of time, and even the big controllers of Switch 2 have not really corrected that problem. In fact, they feel that the whole thing has worsened.

The 8bitdo adapter meant that I was able to avoid this problem on the first switch, at least when it was in TV mode. All you had to do was plug it into the dock, paired it with a new console, and make sure a special togle was switched to the settings.

In my case, I had an Xbox controller added to the adapter and I was able to use it to play all my favorite switch games. All with the comfort of a controller that was designed for real human hands, and did not feel that it was made with complete disregard for ergonomics.

The only negative side was that Nintendo and Microsoft reverse their patriarous buttons. So a hit on the Xbox button is actually telling the switch you have hit – which can cause issues. I am mainly playing with Xbox controllers for a better part of 24 years, and I believe it is difficult to override the memory of the muscles.

Oh, and no home or capture button, as they are unique to switch to controllers. As long as you are not using anything like Xbox Elite Controller or DualSense Edge, there are not enough buttons for them to just account for them.

Nevertheless, I will take the button on cramps any day on cramps. So imagine my disappointment when I plugged the adapter to my switch 2, and found that it did not work.

I was not eager to buy a new switch 2-friendly adapter, or a separate controller. But thankfully, the solution on my wallet was very easy.

While switch is 1 accessories that work with switch 2, it should not be surprised that everything does not do. Fortunately, 8bitdo has estimated this, and a new firmware update for USB wireless adapters has updated that upgraded the dongle with switch 2 support.

It is all necessary 8bitdo’s own upgrade tool (Available on Windows and Macos). Download the tool, plug into adapters and the software should automatically identify it and check for updates.

In my case, Windows Tool said that my adapter version was at 1.04, and that V1.09 was available. It took about a minute to install the update, the point at which the adapter was ready to go.

The only thing you need to do on your switch is that Controllers Menu in settings and activate Pro Controller Wired CommunicationThis means that Switch 2 recognizes the 8bitdo adapter as a wired controller, regardless of the fact that it is connecting to a wireless controller.

Plug the adapter into one of the USB port of Switch 2 Dock, and if your system is like me, the new controller should immediately identify it. Although checking Change grip/order The menu is worth ensuring that it is set as primary controller.

    What is compatible with it?

The 8bitdo has a huge list of controllers who are compatible with the 8bitdo USB wireless adapter 2. It includes all 8bitdo’s Bluetooth controller, 5 through PlayStations 3, Switch Pro Controller, Wiimotes, Wii U Pro, Xbox Series X | S and Bluetooth Xbox One Contrallers include.

The latter difference is particularly important, as Xbox did not add Bluetooth to any controller until the Xbox One S. launch, so your launch-era Xbox One Controller will not work here.

The adapter is also not exclusive to switch to the console, and you can plug it into other devices, including Windows, Mac, Steam Deck and Raspberry Pie device. In this way you can use whatever controller you like, not only those who are officially supported by the platform you are doing gaming.

So long bliss-grass! We will come back only when we need mouse control or want to play in mode.
