The UK National Crime Agency (NCA) arrested four people, who are suspected to be involved in the cyber attack on the country’s leading retailers, including Marx and Spencer, Co-Oop and Herods.
The arrested person is a two -year -old man, a 17 -year -old man, and a 20 -year -old woman, who was first caught in his homes in London and West Midlands. One of them is Latvian, and the rest is English.
The police also seized electronic devices for evidence or information that potentially enhance them, which could lead to co-speculators.
Four suspects now face allegations of computers misuse act crimes, blackmail, money laundering and involvement in organized crime.
The suspects are believed to have been linked to cyber attacks on M&S, CO-Op and heroes in early April and early May, which negatively disruption and negatively impacts businesses targeted by hackers.
Marx and Spencer had to stop the online order immediately after the attack, and later confirmed that the customer data was stolen, forced to the password reset for all customers. It was later estimated that the incident would have an impact of $ 402,000 (£ 300 million) on its profits.
During the attacks on the Co-op and Marx and Spencer, the danger actors attempted to deploy dragonforce ransomware. However, the ransomware attack was successful only on the M&S, as the co-op closed its system before the encrypters were deployed.
As reported earlier by Blapping Copper, the cyber attack was attributed to danger actors classified as scattered spider, which have been associated with several violations in the last few years, including MGM, Twilio, Coinbase, Dordash, Caerar, Caesar, Caesar, Melchimp, Dangang Games and Reditte.
“Since these attacks, expert NCA cyber crime investigators are working at a pace and one of the supreme priorities of the investigating agency,” NCA Deputy Director, Paul Foster said,
“Today’s arrest is an important step in that investigation, but our work is going on, with the UK and participants abroad, to ensure that those responsible have been identified and brought into justice.”
Although the NCA did not mention the spider scattered in its declaration, ethnicity, social engineering strategy, and the age of the arrested persons corresponds to the specific profile of the members of the scattered spider, as has been established by previous arrest in the US, Britain and Spain.
After the retail targeted, the attackers shifted attention to American insurance companies, and later in aviation and transport firms, also suspected to be behind Kantas Breech.
Caltas confirmed yesterday that the incident affected 5.7 million customers, highlighting their sensitive information.
The ongoing campaigns of spiders scattered by arrest in Britain may have a cold effect, as the remaining members can choose to stay and hide for a while.
However, as these danger actors are considered part of a large group of diverse English -speaking danger actors, gathering on discord, telegram and online forums, it is unlikely to be a complete stop for attacks.
