Lucky for us, not much is going on in the world these days, so this week How is success The podcast guest had all the time to sit in the world to chat and relax.
Of course, this is not true, but we got it anyway! Very busy Dana Perino Fox hosts two daily programs on the news channel (America’s news room And Five), Gives advice to people across the country, and writes books of leadership, not everyone without any extra time.
His new book, I wish someone had told meNow is outside, and she joined us to share the advice of her career while chasing a dream, developing the developed definition of her success, and a habit that she wants. You can listen to the entire episode here or on the stage of your choice, and read the highlights below, which is edited for length and clarity.
I like the title of your new book, and I would be surprised whether someone refers to that someone first warned you that you were sitting next to Greg Gutfeld 11 years ago.
Later more on Greg Gutfeld! One thing that I like is about this new book, it is a relationship with my mother. My previous book, Everything will be fineWas specific for young women. Before coming out, I sent it to my mother, and he said, “Wow, wish someone would have told me these things.” So this is a reference to my mother, who came in the workforce after college in 1965. Those women paved the way for the rest of us. He was a pioneer in the workforce.
So did you decide to write this book?
I advise a lot. And I realized that the advice I am talking to have developed in the last few years. So it’s not now, “What should I study in college?” This “How can I get publicity?” “How to deal with my finance?” “How do I start planning for retirement?” So I knew that I needed to book a fresh, updated mentoring, but I also knew that I did not have all the answers. So I went to all kinds of friends and colleagues, people who have known through my entire life, from my college roommate to people like Greg Gutfeld, who are going to swell, but they also have terrible and intelligent advice.

How do you define success? And has it evolved over the years?
I grew up in Vyoming and Colorado, and I do not come with money, I do not come from politics. My ambition was. I wanted to get things. And I worried about my twenty -nine condition. And one of my great hopes is for people whom we will listen to this podcast or if they are ready to read the book, then they will realize that if you are an educated American, you have already won the great lottery of life. Then you have to decide what you want to do with it. Initially, my success was a measure, “Can I pay my bills?” And then it becomes, “Can I help people?” And then it is about finding peace, with a constant desire to learn and be curious. And be grateful.
Does the piece of advice really stand for you?
My favorite advice in this book is that love is not a career-limit decision. Almost all the people who advise I ask, “How can I meet someone?” Or some of them have long distance relationships, but they do not want to leave their jobs. I understood. But I really believe that if you decide that you want to live with this person, it is not a career-limit decision. I served as the White House Press Secretary in George W. Bush Administration, and left Capital Hill to go and live with her husband in England. It did not ruin my career. In fact, everything I have completed is because I had Peter to help me. So I would just like to emphasize those who jump.

What is a habit that you are grateful to, and one you want you to eat?
I am very good at waking up and getting ready to go immediately. I have no problem. I do not need coffee. I wish I could break my phone habit. I have recently developed a thumb injury by scrolling on my phone. So this is a habit that I would like to break!
