You can know the story by now: Framework makes repaible, modular laptops where you can submit in new components for older or broken people. It has been two years when the company has launched an AMD mainboard for laptop 13 and so it is time for the first replacement. The new model gets AMD’s Ryzen AI 300, a series of power-skilled chips for notebooks, which can all copilot+ AI, industry people need and want people.

Framework sent me to slot the new AMD mainboard in the current chassis, as well as a new bezel and input cover. Instead of normal solid colors, the company is now offering translucent plastic versions for all the 90s children who have game boy colors. I prefer a tinted transported version on clear transparent one, but you can do justice for yourself in pictures.

Buyers will have three options: they can buy a new pre-made laptop with Ryzen AI 300, to collect a DIY version or simply get the mainboard on their own. Either way, you get a Ryzen 5 340, Ryzen 7 350 or Flagship Ryzen 9 HX 370 pick, which is capable of exploiting RAM up to 96GB. Naturally, the price will start climbing your technical ambitions as much as possible.

I was supplied with Midrange Ryzen 7 350, which took me about 11 minutes either to swap in the current AMD model. It is entertaining to think that I was first taken a better part of an hour, but I did so, but once you become impartial, it becomes comfortable. If you, like me, lose muscle memory to swap the components at the bend of the millennium, do not feel that it is beyond you.

The performance of Ryzen 7 350 is fine for the types of tasks that you will expect to do with a 13 -inch notebook. I did not think that I was a clear, era-shift leap between changing this and 7840u. If you are using it for normal accessories – work, browsing and watching videos – it will handle everyone.

As usual, the best reason for recommending AMD model on your Intel counterpart is for more strength in gaming. After all, you can easily get 50 to 60 FPS in the title Fortnite And Grand Theft Auto VIt is making an effective all -rounder.

There are two downsides for the modular approach of the framework, one of which is that hardware will always look more functional than its rivals. Second, more important, it is that all CPU cooling is to be integrated on the mainboard itself. While a lot of machines can be designed around thermal management, it cannot do one because everything is modular. So the fan on top of the mainboard has to do all the work with one hand that are tied behind its back. Consequently, there are noise from the methods of modern machines both intel and AMD version of the laptop of the framework.

Framework says it addresses the issue of noise by re -designing the heat, improving the fan algorithm and switching to the Honeywell’s PTM7958 thermal paste. It is a matter of regret that the number of hours the company may have put here, you are still going to deal with a lot of fan noise and heat under heavy load. And when AMD promised that 300 AIs were designed to be more power-skilled, the new processor leads to the battery life of this thing. I found nothing close to a full day on a charge here, but it seems that these days there is a way with so many laptops.

I have always appreciated the structure for my commitment to improve every hardware component. This time, the company worked with a manufacturing partner Light-on to give a makeover to its keyboard. This focuses on hard-to-spot reforms such as printing the cap in a slightly thin weight, changing the fingerprint sensor and re-designing the shift and entering the keys.

Thankfully, what has not changed is the key journey of 1.5 mm, and the founder Nirav Patel told me years ago that there was no interest in trying to fix it which was not broken. This means that using the keyboard itself remains as easy as it was earlier, with a little cool typing action. The keys are not as loose in their habitat as they were on the old model, which is another sign of high quality. Users can also choose from the keyboard with a dedicated Windows Copilot key or framework key based on the loyalty of your operating system.

Even more importantly, the company addressed the response that when the speaker is played in high versions, the wide keys are lost. When the sound is loud, there is a new scaffold supporting shift and spacebar to reduce vibration. I think the original problem was eliminated, but perhaps my audio pics are not bass like some other people. Regardless, changes are welcome here and when I have seen the explosive audio, I did not find very little rattle.

It is not as simple as it is issues with hardware compatibility for an AMD one. Similarly, AMD boards support different USB standards for various expansion card slots, as you can see in the picture. This is true for AMD boards, no matter the manufacturer, but it is one thing to remember before making your shopping.

    Summary

If you are already inside the ecosystem of the framework, feel free to sleep on this upgrade. Yes, the AI 300 is better than the chip that replaces it, but not to the extent that I suggest you several hundred dollars on one. If you are not, you will probably be washed away by a broad pitch of framework instead of this specific update. My suspicion is that the company’s mature ecosystem is ideally placed to take advantage of the current geo -dominant broe. After all, if the cost of every notebook is a danger of leaping through the roof, it is compelling to be able to run a machine for a long time. And, if you want to jump inside, you should hold one of the concessional ryzen 7040 machines before leaving. After all, if you find the performance slightly slow in a few years, you will be kept well to take advantage of the next generation upgrade.

I know that there are some who feel that the inherent platform of the framework is getting slightly stale, which I understand. Tech consumers are consistently chlams for a new, flashier doodad, and when the laptop 13 was launched for the first time, it was already visible to a generation behind the 13 -inch notebook, a rival in the same class. When the laptop 13 was first launched, it was already visible to a generation behind the 13 -inch notebook in the same category. Five years below the line, it will not beat any machine with del, aer or Assis.

But when it cannot have a razzle or dazzling, it has the power to live, and it is going to be a big property in the next few years. If you are like a person who buys a Lenovo Thinkpad and runs it until it separates, it is a better option. After all, with a structure, you will not even need to worry about it.
