In the Android show ahead of Google I/O on Tuesday, Google announced new security and privacy facilities for Android. These new features include calls, screen sharing, messages, devices access and new security for system-level permissions. With these characteristics, Google aims to protect users from falling for a scam, protect your details in the event of a device stolen or carrying by the attacker, and increase the device-level security for various attacks.
Phone scammers often ask users to tap on unsafe links or take action such as unknown app download. For the safety of users, Google is blocking certain tasks and users warning users of potential scams, while they are not on calls with anyone, which is not in their contact list.
For Android 16, these actions include the first time web browser, messaging app, or side-loading apps from other sources, which are not verified by Google, and one app has to provide accessibility permission in an app to take control of a scammer device. The company is preventing users running Android 6 or subsequently preventing the Google Play Protect, which scans the device for the harmful app while being on a call.
Google is adding screen-sharing protection by reminding users to prevent the screen from sharing the screen after a call is finished.
The company is also testing a new warning screen with select banks in the UK to prevent fraud through screen-sharing. This feature will be available for Google messages later in this summer which is for users running Android 10 or later.
Stealing measures
Earlier this year, Google rolled out the identity probe safety for Pixel and Samsung devices with Oneui 7. In this feature, users are required to use biometric authentication to replace their device pin or biometrics, disable the theft security or access the important settings to access the passes, when the user does not have one of the reliable places.
