Writing has been on the wall for some time, but the shift away from Google assistant is now official. Google has announced that it will transfer users to Gemini as default AI assistant on its equipment in the coming months. Once this happens, they will no longer be able to reach Google assistant.
At the moment, you can switch as default options on your Android phone on Google Assistant, even on new phones that are running out of the box with Gemini. In addition to the phone, Google will be giving uniform treatment to Smartwatch, Android Auto, Tablet, Smart Home device, TV and audio gear.
“We are also bringing a new experience, operated by Gemini, for household appliances such as speakers, displays and TVs,” Google says, without sharing a specific time limit for infection. What happens to Google assistant after infection? Well, it will be removed from the equipment and will no longer be available to download from the app store.
Talking about apps, Gemini may already interact with a wide range of Google as well as some third-party apps. Users can ask it to work in various products, without opening those apps. In addition to in-house apps such as Docks, Drives and Gmail, Gemini Assistant can work in a group of Samsung apps as well as third-party apps like WhatsApp and Spotify.
