Google is rolling a back-end-voice conversation with AI mode for users, its experimental discovery feature that allows users to ask complex, multi-part questions. With new search live integration, users can have a free-flowing voice conversation with search and detect links on the web.
Users will be able to use the feature to ask their question loudly by opening the Google app and tapping the new “live” icon. They will then hear an AI-borne audio response, and they can follow with another question.
A few weeks after today’s announcement, Google rolled out AI mode to all in the US, the launch of this feature was seen as the answer to popular services such as Google’s Perplexity AI and Openai’s Chatgpt Search. With this new update, Google wants to take the related voice mode of those services.
Google says that this feature will be useful in examples where you are going or on multitasking. For example, if you are packing for a trip, you can ask a question like “What are some suggestions to stop the linen dress from wrinkles in a suitcase?” You can follow with another question like “What should I do if it is still wrinkles?”

As you are interacting, if you want to dig deeply in your search, you will find the link on your screen.
Because the search works in the live background, you can continue the conversation while staying in another app. In addition, you have the option to tap the “Transcript” button to see the text response and continue to ask questions if you want. You can re -see a search live reaction by navigating your AI mode history.
“Behind the curtain, behind the curtain, uses a custom version of Gemini with live advanced voice abilities in AI mode,” said Lisa Ma, director of the product management in Google Search. Blog Post. “Our custom model is designed on the best-in-class quality and information systems of the discovery, so you still get reliable, useful reactions, whether you are asking your question or how you are asking your question. Search with voice also uses our querry fan-out technology, which shows you a comprehensive and more diverse sets of useful web materials, which gives you new opportunities.”
In the coming months, Google has planned to bring more live capabilities to AI mode, in which your phone camera allows you to ask questions based on what the camera is looking in real time, as previewed in Google I/O in May.
