    Key takeaways of zdnet

    • The Androidify app lets you customize your own Android bot.
    • You can use a photo or enter a text prompt.
    • There is a browser version of an app and tool.

If you are an Android dye-hard, Google is giving you a fun new way to express your fandam.

For more than 15 years, a small green robot (aka Bagdroid) has been the official mascot of the Android operating system. Many versions of the mascot exist, with the most recent 3D version roll out in 2023.

Google launched a “its own Android Bot” tool last year, allowing you to prepare your bot with clothes and accessories, but it was limited. The company now has a new tool, however, and it is anything but.

Too: I tried every new AI feature on Google Pixel 10 series – my thoughts as AI expert

The new Androidify app lets you make your bot avatar, but it does this based on your own photo or text prompt, which means that it has an incredibly deep level of adaptation.

Google says that the app uses a combination of tools to create your bot – to caption Gemini 2.5 flash photo, imagine to generate your custom Android bot, and to conscious your bot with different vibes.

I made my own Androidify bot

I tried many photos and quickly found how fun it was to see what the output looked. I had the most success with a Halloween selfie since last year, where I wore one Ghost Busters Jumpsuit and proton pack. My Android bot (Green, of course) had its own tan jumpsuit, proton pack, and even a version of the “no-host” logo on his sleeve.

The details were not correct, but the overall vibe was very fun. I tried many more unique pictures, and came out as good as each.

Too: Your Gemini app got just a major AI image editing upgrade – for free

I was not able to achieve the same level of expansion from the text prompt, no matter how special I was, but soon the bots still felt very well.

How to make your own Androidify bot

To make your own bot, Download Androidify App (you can also use Browser version,

You can choose between using the photo as the base for your bot or text prompt.

Too: Did Google give us only the last AI photo-editing equipment? I tested it on Pixel, and hard agree

If you go on the photo route, you can either take a photo or choose one from your gallery. Choosing from your gallery is a bit more fun because you can choose a picture with accessories or a unique outfit, which the app will repeat.

It is better to choose a picture with a person because you don’t get what you want. If there are many people, the app would either choose one person or make a strange mashup of two people, as if it did it with a picture of me and my daughter (it took my hair and facial hair and slapped him on the bot wearing his dress).

Too: I used Google’s photo-to-video AI tool on my selfie-and tanged me

Once you choose your photo and tap on “transform”, the app gets the job of making your bot. When you are botted, you can choose from several formats – a large phone wallpaper, a banner, a sticker, or 3: 1 size that will serve as a social media cover photo. From there, you will choose your background from one of the 15 options.
