Remember Google’s project starline, 3D video conferencing “booth” which is believed to feel that you are talking to another person as if they are standing right in front of you, look right in your eyes? After several years of troodling as an impressive research project demo, Google is eventually providing technology as a commercial product.

Rebranded in Google I/O 2025, Project Starline is now called Google Beam. The tech veteran has filled all the required techniques-a light field performance that makes a visual depth for a person and six cameras are made in three surrounding bezels for head-tracking-which is essentially a glasses-free 3D TV.

On a video call with media a day before the developer conference, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that beam AI is used to merge several 2D video streams of a person in the right tracking with “3D light fields”.

I have not tried the project starline or google beam, but What I have gathered from those who haveLifelik Human avatars visited the Anakani Valley. Instead of a person’s eyes, under a webcam, on a window on your computer screen, it is as if they are staring at you directly.

A new feature for the beam is near the translation of real -time between two callers. While the beam is not exclusively exclusive – this feature is launching for Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra Subscriber in Google Meat, which is starting today – almost live voice translations, can make for more meaningful connections through 3D screen while contacting the eyes. I get an appeal – I really do, but hardware and AI processing power are not coming cheap.

Although Google did not say how much the beam unit costs, the fact that it is participating with HP, “later this year tells you to bring the first beam device for businesses” with select customers “with select customers to tell you who is its purpose. Read: Companies that can give up major cash on experimental next-round video calling tech. In other words, the beam is intended for enterprise use. Google also states that it is working with companies such as Zoom and Citadel, Deloite, Duoolingo, Hachesac Meridian Health, NEC, Recruit, and Organizations including Organizations and Organizations, and salesforce has shown interest and plans to “bring it into their teams”.

See, if the Google beam is on I/O, and it is as much as the mind that people have tried to say, I can flow. I like the opportunity to see the future – Todd. But as a consumer technology reporter, who has seen more than its appropriate part of high -tech enterprise products, which can have consumer applications. If only the cost was not so expensive, I would say that your level of enthusiasm will have to be reduced. The beam is a commercial product for large businesses, and until it changes, it is difficult for something that most people will never experience. And even if you have to work in a company, which can have a beam in a conference room, are you really going out of your way to use it to use it more “natural” and realistic video calls? I do not know anyone who really likes to be on a video call, and you want to voluntarily let someone be even more in your personal place? Some tell me that novelty is not going to be worth troubles when our laptops can make video calls from anywhere, not just a large and heavy 3D TV booth.
