Hackers tried to steal $ 130 million from the Brazilian Brazilian Brazilian subsidiary Sinkia Clean, leading to unauthorized access to its atmosphere on the Central Bank’s Real-Time Payment System (PIX).
Evertch is a public financial technology giant standing as a major full-service transaction processor in Latin America, Puerto Rico and Caribbean.
The Sinqia acquired by Evertch in 2023 is a Sao Paulo-based public company working in financial software and IT services for banking and financial industry.
ERTEC revealed in a filing to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that the hackers violated the system of Sinkia on August 29 and attempted unauthorized transactions.
“On August 29, 2025, Sinkia SA, a Brazilian subsidiary of ERTEC, Ink, identified unauthorized activity in its atmosphere of the Central Bank Real-Time Payment System of Brazil, known as the pics,” SEC reads Filing,
“On detecting the event, and according to its event response protocol, Sinqia prevented transactions processing in its PIX environment and began working with cyber security forensic experts.”
Pix Brazil has an instant payment system, launched in November 2020 by Central Bank of Brazil, allowing 24/7 instant fund transfer.
It has become the most widely used payment method in Brazil, and is often targeted by Android banking malware.
Hackers attempted to conduct unauthorized trade-to-business transactions, including two financial institutions which are Cinkia’s customers.
Local media outlet HSBC Bank implicatedWhereas a bank spokesperson underlined that the incident has not affected customer money or data.
ERTEC notes that the $ 130 million share has already been recovered, without mentioning that the recovery efforts are still on.
An investigation into the incident revealed that the hackers had access to the pics atmosphere of Sinkia using stolen credibility for the IT seller’s account.
There is no indication of ERTEC that this effect is beyond the pics environment of Sinkia, and there is no evidence that personal data has been exposed.
Currently, access to Cinkia’s pics has been canceled by the Central Bank of Brazil, but the company is working towards quick restoration by providing all the necessary details and assurance to the authorities.
Regarding the financial impact, Avtec notes that Sinkia’s pics atmosphere supports the operation of 24 financial institutions in Brazil.
The company said, “The financial and prestigious impact of the event, including any impact on the company’s internal controls, is not yet known and the material may be,” the company said.
