Why can you rely on techradar

We review every product or service, we review, so you can make sure you are buying the best. Get more information about how we test.

This review first appeared in points 343 PC Pro.

Businesses not committed to long-term contracts for cloud collaboration services should check Hidrive from web-hosting company ionos. You can choose from four schemes, and all are available on cheap monthly contracts so that you can cancel them with minimal notice.

The ionos does not offer free testing, but you can try it for nothing, with a one -year Hidrive Business Contract, currently costs 50p per month for five users and 1TB of cloud storage per month. We wanted to see everything to offer Hidrive, so we tried the Pro Plan, which is priced at £ 20 per month, starts with 2TB cloud storage for ten users, SMB/CIF, FTP/SFTP, SFTP, RSYNC, SCP and GIT protocols support for the individual devices of users, and users ‘support for users’ support for users. Closes it.

Hidrive administrator is simple to use portal, and you create new users by sending email invitations. For more protection, you can enable two-factor authentication (2FA) globally and assign selected users to the administrator rights, although the roles are not supported, so they will have complete access to all settings.

After creating their account, users can download Windows or Macos Desktop syncing apps. It works fine on our Windows 11 customers, and the latest version sees a re -designed interface with easy access to all features.

Users choose cloud folders that they want to synchronize in their local mapped drives and how to respond when external storage devices are inserted. Easy in the encryption of data in flight as well as comfort in Hidive Cloud Server enables Pro Plan and-to-end encryption, although it is left in the hands of each user who can choose to apply it from the desktop app and manage their own keys.

The device backup is also fully controlled by users. They can enable it to selected folders, to run it regularly and schedule the app or to recover data from their own portal. One concern is that the total cloud storage is not per user, but has been shared among them, as the admin device has no control over backup, they will need to monitor the use closely.

Hidrive files do not eradicate, but all plans provide automatic backup of cloud data. Admins can run it often every four hours, maintain data for up to a year, and users can use backup from their portal and restore the selected items in cloud folders or download them as zip files.

There is a simple web portal, and the desktop app offers user-managed backup services (Image Credit: Future)

Each user has an individual repository in their portal to create a folder and upload files for them. They can choose selected items in this area to share with anyone, including external allies, by emailing a web link with alternative password safety, read/write the privileges and write dates.

Sharing files between team members is controlled by a “general” area in the web portal. Only account administrators are allowed to create new folders within it and it is determined which users have read or read/read, after which they become accessible in their portal.

No outlook or Gmail plugins are provided, so all sharing and file upload requests should be sent from the user portal, in which the latter maximum file size is limited to 2GB. Hidrive does not integrate with any third-party application, but users can load popular files such as Word Documents or Excel spreadsheets from their portal and edit them in the browser without the need of the relevant app installed.

Small businesses that want ordinary cloud file-sharing services will tick the ionos Hidrive Pro with a lot of boxes. The app integration and cooperation tools are minimal, but it is easy to use and, although cloud storage is shared, it is still comparatively good value.
