
There is also a structured development inside companies like Insurance brokerage firm Brown and Brown. CISO Barry Hannley supports an internal corort program designed to identify and develop emerging leaders in its career. “We look at ourselves – I am going to say it to new or small employees,” they tell. “And if you are recognized in your first, second or third year, as (ability to become a leader), you put in a program,” they explain.
According to Hannsley, the program brings a group of 20 to 30 teammates together that meets the CEO monthly, work on real -world business problems, and receive mentarships from guest speakers. The participants also participate in the company’s programs for professional development throughout the year. In addition to other leadership development programs in Brown and Brown, which includes an enterprise leadership development program that is open to employees for enrollment and other enrolled-based programs.
Leading versus management
A former US Army Officer, Hannsley, has seen leadership development not only to create continuity, but also as a reflection of organizational health. “I look forward to that day that someone fills my shoes,” they say. “You know that you are successful when you get yourself out of the job.”
