Have you ever tried to unlock your deadbol when Homkit reaches home? I have tried to do this many times, and it never did the right thing – until I detected a work -chamber for the safe scenes of Apple.
Here it is told that I turned my Homcomit lock on my own will and when I reach home, I automatically unlocked.
What is a safe scene in Homkit
Safe Homkit scenes initially threw me. What makes them different from a normal view?
Well, safe views are automatic and contains equipment related to a visual at any time. The list of safety equipment includes locks, cameras, garage doors, motorized windows and anything that is to do with the security of your home.
An additional steps are required to trigger a safe view, even if you ask to trigger it automatically. For me, I had a scene in which it was said, “Whenever someone comes home, unlock the front door.” It seems simple, but with the homcomb, it will require additional authentication to trigger it.

11 Useful Smart Home Scene I recommend everyone to set
Almost every smart home requires these scenes.
Strange part, safe view Always Additional authentication is required to trigger. If you have a view set that says “When someone leaves the house, close the garage door and close the front door,” you have to certify it before walking – even if it is closing the door and locking locks.
Homcits cannot really differentiate between closing scenes and opening scenes, so if a scene requires any form of safe device control, it will trigger additional authentication.
Additional certification comes as a notification on your phone. When the scene goes to run, a homcomit notification will be revealed, and you have to unlock your phone and tap the notification to execute it.
I understand Why Apple has additional protection for safe scenes. If someone had to steal your phone, and they knew where you lived, they just have to do so that you would be shown at the door in front of you, and it would be open (or your garage could open). This is not a great landscape.
While I think Apple does this, I still want me to have a way to disable it. My old smart lock supported the unlocking of Jio-Fense through its original app, and I liked it. I just went home and went to the door, where it was unlocked and was ready to enter for me.
I need all this. I want my front door ever to unlock my wife or I arrive home, and when any of us leaves the house, auto lock. Therefore, I set to find out how to do it.
While my old smart lock (1 August/Yale) supported it in-app, my new smart lock (which supports Apple Homekey while my old is not one) does not have the same functionality, which means that I have to turn to Hamkit to complete the task.

Lockley Visse Smart Lock is a unique piece of smart home gear as it offers many ways to unlock your door. Up to an auto-rotating pin keypad for increased privacy from the support of apple homekit and homekey, Lockley Wishes is a great additional for any smart home. It is also an industry-first smart lock with facial identification technology, automatically unlocking for faces you program in it.
However, Homkit prevents me from doing so because of safe scenes – or does so?
How do you bypass a safe view?
While Apple’s intention with safe scenes is to keep you from locking or unlocking a door without certifying you, there are methods around it.
To achieve safe scenes, you will have a non-safe tool that you can trigger when reaching or leaving home. It can be a plug, switch, or any other device – until it is considered “safe” by Apple.

Keeping your data safe, enjoy a multi-platform functionality with this case-competent smart plug. With Energy Consumption Tracking for Apple Homekit users, Eve Energy Matter Smart Plug makes a great option for spontaneous smart home integration.
The problem is, this device must actually be dedicated to control your door. If the device triggers the door out of locking/unlocking, your door will simply lock or unlock.
Essentially, to bypass safe sequences of Apple, you have to create an automation that triggers non-protected devices, and then another automation in which the non-protected device triggers lock or door.
How home assistant plays a role
I did not want to use any of my smart plugs or switches to control the front door, as it would mean that the specific device was ever triggered, my door would lock or unlock.
Therefore, I turned to the home assistant. Within home assistant, I was able to make a dummy Input booolian To import Homkit. An input booolian is essentially an current/off togle like a switch.

This self-hosted app made my homcomit setup less restrictive
Who knew that Homkit could welcome informal goods so much?
This input booolian may then be dedicated to my front door (and if I would like I can make other safe equipment more to trigger more). Only after turning on or closing this input boolian will be with the front door, which means that I will never have a wrong trigger.
Without a home assistant, I really need a dedicated plug – which is completely notable. However, it spends more money and is something that needs to remain in constant (and unused for other purposes), so Home Assistant is the best option for me.
How do I use Homkit to unlock my front door
It was not the easiest to find out when someone reaches home to automatically unlock the homkit, but in fact it is not all difficult that it is difficult to install it once the framework is ready.
I had to make five total automation. Four automation handle the door locking and unlocking, and then the fifth automation is real “when anyone comes home, the door unlocks.”
To start, create two automation for dummy switch. When the dummy switch is on, an automation unlocks the front door, and locks the front door when the dummy switch is closed.
Next, create two more automation. The first will turn the dummy switch on when the door is unlocked, and the second one closes the dummy switch when the front door is closed.
You need all these automation to ensure that things stay in the sink. For example, if you only set the front door set to respond to the dummy switch, and not in another way, manually unlocking the front door will be closed.
If this happened, the entire automation was thrown away. To work properly for this automation, the dummy switch must control the lock, and the lock will have to control the dummy switch.
Once you set all those four automation set, you will need to create a final automation. This is the place where magic occurs. Do an automation program that says “When someone comes home, turn on the dummy switch.”
When it is trigger, the dummy switch turns on, and then the automation moves, which unlock the front door as the dummy switch is on. This is so easy.
I have an auto-locking locking app after a set time, but if you keep everything in the homcomb, you can automatically set it to close the dummy switch after a certain time frame (which will automatically lock the door).
Really, all this is necessary. It took me some time to find the steps, and agreed to execute the steps. However, once I did all this, it was a few minutes of programming.
Now, make sure that they populate everyone in home phones through automation icloud. My wife’s phone, for some reason, did not get these automation automatically. I could add them manually, but I just removed her from Apple’s house and added her back and she corrected everything.
Now when your front door is being unlocked automatically when you come home, why not set some more automation for your smart home?
There are 11 scenes here which can revolutionize your smart home. From putting your office into work mode, you definitely need to examine some of these scenes and apply them in your daily workflow.
