- We asked our readers about their Windows 11 schemes
- Many users believe that they can easily upgrade their equipment
- Not all users have RAM capacity, or their RAM does not know at all
As the official Windows 10 of Microsoft comes close to the end of life (October 14, 2025 for those of you who do not already know!), Any struggle will soon have to migrate into Windows 11.
Well, we say that Stragler – but our exclusive figures show more than half (53%) of Windows users, are still using old software, potentially leaving them at risk of cyber attacks and other issues when support ends when support ends.
Our future survey of 1,027 users found that only 43% say they have upgraded – so what is the delay?
Optimistic approach
Well, simply say – our research found that this could be partially because many users do not only know that they need to upgrade.
Most people (55%) know which versions they are on, but it leaves 23% that ‘is quite certain’, 10% that ‘can make an educated estimate’, and another 12% that is definitely not sure.
(We are also sure that our audience in Techradar Pro is clearly very technical-loving, so uncertain that are uncertain are likely to be too much …)
Most of the people involved in the survey (61%) stated that they own two tools or more in their home, and 53% say that all their PC/laptops meet the requirements for Windows 11 upgrade – 28% fall lower than requirements in some capacity.
The survey revealed some uncertainty, although 14% Windows 11 did not know the system requirements, and another 4% did not know their device system requirements. This is the place where optimism comes.
For those who do not know, the RAM required for Windows 11 is 4 GB – and it was not sure that their device has more than half of those people, but 40% said that they were certain – although it is not a complete picture.
We asked those 40% how much RAM they have, and 1 in 4 respondents gave us a sensible answer – either too much, or very little.
Most of the ridiculous was optimistic, such as 1TB, which will also envy the industrial set-up, so it is not really clear how many of us are ready or able to upgrade.
While the adoption of Windows 11 can eventually grow, there are still a lot of users to make changes. Microsoft is still urging users to update, as the firm has pushed endless AI features in desktops and laptops worldwide to try and woo users.
