How reliable are portable batteries for road trips? One of my favorites is 44% off right now

    ZDNET Highlights

    • The EcoFlow Trail 300 DC retails for $249 but is on sale for $139.
    • This compact portable battery can power electronic devices like laptops, smartphones, tablets, etc.
    • It has no extra features (no lights), and only five DC ports.

My kids ooh and ahh over portable batteries. They’re young, between four and nine, so they’re not the target audience for EcoFlow or Anker Solix, yet their eyes light up whenever I open a new portable battery to test for work. Why? They love using them to charge their tablets wherever they are.

Plus: We rounded up over 100 of the best deals for Prime Day 2: Your last chance to save up to 56% off TVs, Kindles, and more

So far, they have been in love ecoflow trail 300 dc So much so that they are fighting me on it. This battery is light enough that even my little ones can carry it everywhere without fear of it dropping or hitting their feet, yet it can charge all three of their tablets multiple times on a single charge.

And I get it: I’ve used the EcoFlow Trail 300 DC to recharge my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook twice on a single charge, and still have about 17% battery left.

My favorite thing about the Trail 300 DC is its compact and lightweight design. EcoFlow achieved this by bypassing the battery’s AC mechanism and making it a DC-only option.

AC batteries have long been my preferred option for carrying, so ecoflow river 3 It has been my favorite since its launch last year. I’ve tried other DC-only portable batteries, like the Anker Solix C300X, but the Trail 300 won me over by being lighter and more compact than the Anker Solix option.

I have used this little battery in my home and outside. I love that I can carry it around, take it to the car and back without feeling like I’m carrying a portable battery.

Due to its lightness, the Trail 300 DC becomes an ideal travel companion. Weighing in at less than six pounds, it’s easy to carry, even in your carry-on or backpack. If you enjoy active camping trips, this portable battery can go in your backpack to keep your devices charged without weighing you down or taking up too much space.

This 90,000mAh battery can deliver up to 140W of power per port with a total output of 300W, making it powerful enough to charge laptops and other larger devices, like electric coolers or projectors.

It recharges very quickly, so you can go from 0 to 100% in about two hours. If you take it out with you, you can recharge it via USB, solar panel or car.

    ZDNET’s shopping advice

ecoflow trail 300 dc One of the best value-for-money options available in portable batteries. It’s perfect for camping and is small enough to slip into a backpack when you leave your tent. It can recharge devices instantly during long car trips, in emergency situations, or, as my kids say, when you’re on the couch with a dead tablet and too far from an outlet.

One of the best features of this portable battery is its affordable price of $160 (at the time of writing). Such a good price challenges the competition, although you may have to compromise on some features to get such a good price.

While the EcoFlow Trail 300 DC is lightweight and compact, it lacks extra features like a light, and only has five DC ports: two USB-C, two USB-A, and a 12V car port. For example, the Anker Solix C300X has twice as many USB-C ports.

It appears that this deal is a part of Amazon Prime Big Deal Days, also known as October Prime Days, so I expect it to expire when the event ends on October 8th.

While many sales events offer deals for a specific period of time, these deals are often limited-time offers, allowing them to expire at any time. ZDNET is committed to finding, sharing and updating the best offers to help you maximize your savings so you can feel as confident in your purchases as we do in our recommendations. Our team of ZDNET experts constantly monitor the deals we feature to keep our stories up to date. If you missed this deal, don’t worry — we’re constantly looking for new savings opportunities at ZDNET.com.
