What is DIN standard?

Cargo bikes carry heavy loads – children, grocery items, building supply, and whatever can possibly be done on two to three wheels. As a result, cargo bike brakes and other components that allow it to stop safely and require additional check.

In 2020, German standardization institute (DIN) developed a “Din” standard to address it. The result is DIN 79010, “The first standard to specify the testing methods and security requirements of the electric and non-selectric cargo bikes,” Lowell says, saying that both single-track (two-wheele) and multi-track (three-whee or more) are both normal cargo and/or passengers.

“While DIN 79010 is compulsorily discovered in Europe, America has no plans to adopt it as a compulsory standard in the near future,” says Lavel. But many cargo bike companies, such as turn, voluntarily follow the standard.

How will tariffs affect my purchase?

If you are looking at an Ebike, we suggest that the final deals be made between the United States and China with other countries such as Vietnam, Taiwan and Cambodia.

“Currently we are waiting to see the final look of all mutual tariffs,” Matt Moore, called General and Policy Advocate in Peepalforms. “Most electric bicycles are imported from China, and the stacked tariff rate currently adds up to 55 percent.”

Very high tariffs, Moore warns, will force the consumer’s significant value increase in the supply chain ending with digital pocketbook. Continuous high tariffs will lead to permanently high prices, which will reduce the strength and consumer demand.

“Small companies will be able to manage these additional costs at least, and some may be excluded from business,” says Moore. “Since the electric bicycle has been growing in our very competitive industry, where the demand for the overall unit has declined for the last few years, tariffs are likely to cause high costs and an existent crisis in prices.”
