You can be used for AI chatbots to answer your questions with some sentences or paragraphs, but how about multipage reports? With deep research, it is the same that is the choice of chat, Gemini, and Perplexity, using their large language models with web discoveries and logic abilities so that they can become research accessories.
A deep research query takes time (anything between five minutes to 30 minutes, which you ask, depends on it), but comes back to you with a detailed report on any subject, which you can ask, which includes complex things such as niche market research or scientific secrets. Even better, all three major deep research AI providers now have free levels.
However, let’s be honest, most of us are not doing scientific research on the basis of day. So, how can these deep research equipment help you?
How deep research works
Deep Research combines the power of Open web, large language model and new Reasoning model. When you type in your prompt, it will first use an argument model to find out what you are really asking. At this point, the AI chatboat can also return to you with clarifying the questions and can automatically prepare a research plan. You are free to answer with answers and edit the research plan, but it is usually optional.
Once the research starts, you can use a sidebar (or what you are doing to use (or if you are using perplexity). Here, you can see that you are searching for AI, the documents are scanning it, and this information is colliding.
As I mentioned above, a detailed report takes up to 30 minutes, but it is only true if you are actually asking something complex. In my test, I found that all three devices produce results in 5–10 minutes, spinning reports that are still wide and some pages are long.
When should you use deep research?
The best way to use deep research tool is when you can’t find anything on Google yourself, or you do not want to spend time to pass through five different articles to disturb the basics about a subject.
I personally use these deep research tools to find an additional part code for my car that Google will not just tell me. I have also used them to research the company’s share price outlook, and to learn new things about handpan, a musical instrument that I cannot stop paying attention.
If you want a quick answer, a regular discovery in AI Chatbot, of course, is going to be better. And if you are working on a client pitch and you need a market research for five different contestants, then whatever deep research equipment you are using, you want to spring for the version paid. But for anything in the middle, it is worth knowing how to use their light options.
All three competitive head AI Chatbots have their deep research tools that work in almost the same fashion. I will go down in detail, but in general, you start with a prompt, as you can make it, click on the deep research button under the prompt, and then send your query. You can also upload documents, spreadsheets and images as added references.

Limits of free deep research

The free versions of deep research equipment are limited. Perplexity and Gemini provide similar quality of free research reports to users as they pay plans, but they limit the use. With a daily border system, however, the most generosity is the most generous. Perplexity does not actually specify its boundaries, but it will show you how deep research questions you have left in a day. In my test, I have been able to create three deep research questions per day. You can upgrade $ 20 per month plan to remove all limits.
Gemini discovers 5 in a month, and Gemini advanced users can generate 20 reports in a month on $ 20 per month plan.
Chatgpt has the most complex structure. Free users have access to five monthly discoveries using light models of chatgpt, which does not produce full-length reports. Nevertheless, in my experience, this free model is regularly enough for day to day discoveries.
The $ 20/month plus plan of the Chatgpt increases the limit of 10 query in a month using full dark research model and using 15 light.
I tested deep research facilities on all three platforms using the same three signals. The first handpan was to create a initial-oriented guide on learning, the second was to research a company’s stock outlook in the market, and the third was to find a part number for a spare wheel screw cover for my car. The last was something that I could not understand myself using Google.
What do you think so far?
Chat deep research: point to strengthen and strengthen
I found the deep research of the chatgupt the most direct and stronger. The reports that generate Chatgpt are easy to read, and significantly, there is nothing else you asked. Whenever you query a deep research, the chat always asks questions. It may feel tiring (this was done to me), but it works clearly, and you can tell the chat that you want to move forward without following the answer from you.

I saw it in both reports for handpan and stock research. However, chatgipt is probably not best in finding shopping links. Although it found me part of the right car and exposed it correctly on top, it failed to find a link to buy part in India, where I am based (but it found sellers in America and Europe).

Gemini Deep Research: Relevant, but lawyer
When it comes to intensive research, Gemini has two forces: the ability to edit planned research, and access to other Google products.
When you indicate a deep research to Gemini, it first goes out and makes a research plan. After this it will show you a glimpse of this scheme, and if you need you can edit it (just approve it if you don’t need to edit any). Unlike Chatgpt, Gemini does not ask you to clarify clear questions, instead focuses on using its integration with your Google account for a broader level thinking. Being Google, this will include research on relevant information from around your hometown.

Gemini’s deep research facility is also integrated with Google Search. Originally, when you use deep research, you are essentially asking AI to search many Google for yourself. This can also take into account your browsing history (however, only if you want it).

But the negative side of Gemini is that it is slightly too much, and its default research plan is often very widespread in the scope. It may be best to edit a research plan to make it more specific. I saw in my test to find AA numbers for the part of my car, where it spent several paragraphs talking about spare wheel cover, rather than indicating what I ask for, instead of indicating it directly (something that improves both chat and perplexity). The opposite is that Gemini integrates intensive research directly in its audio interview feature, however, so you can easily generate a small podcast episode based on your report.
Perplexity: Fast and Made for Web Search
The deep research tool of perplexity is sharp. This is the fastest to return with a deep research report, sometimes reply me in just two minutes. This is quite good with shopping links, and shopping research. And this is a one-click case. Perplexity does not ask any follow -up questions, nor does it ask you to approve your research plan as Gemini. It only goes and talks about itself.

Currently, Perplexity specializes in integrating web discoveries in its research, perhaps better than Gemini. But its speed comes to a cost. In my trial, I found that the deep research reports of Perplexity are detected in detail, even though there were lots of sources in the report.

All three free deep research tools are use, but some are better for some tasks than others. Based on my research and testing, this is what I have found:
-
Intensive research by chatgate Documents are the strongest while being brief, although they are slightly suffering when they talk of finding a specific link online.
-
Gemini’s deep research Reports are most expanded-oriented, although they perform a lot of action, and are sometimes unnecessarily long.
-
Deep research The tool is the fastest, which gives me results in only minutes. While the research that generates research is often not factually wrong, it is an extension or depth deficiency compared to chat or Gemini.
