Passkeys promises to convert passwords into a more secure and convenient login method. But they still have a way before fulfilling that promise. This is because passkeys are often very difficult to set on a device, give all the devices you use alone. The industry does not provide any standard or consistent method to save and store passes itself, so each company has combined its process together, which can work or not.
Too: Passkeys will not be ready for primetime until Google and other companies fix it
So far, the biggest obstacle to use passkeys is trying to synchronize them in all browsers and equipment you use. Just because you save a passki on your Android phone, for example, it does not mean that it will be available on your Windows PC, or vice versa. This is why I turn to a password manager, which is a central way to save and sync passki in all browsers and equipment I used.
What will happen if you do not have a password manager? Well, there is another route, at least if you use chrome on your computer and mobile devices.
How to sink Paski in your chrome browser
To help you store and synchronize your password and passki, Google offers its password manager. The Google password manager is not only made in Android, but also accessible through Chrome on any platform. This means that you can sink your passage on Android, Windows, MAC and on the iPhone or iPad to Chrome.
How does this all work? Here is how I tried it on all my PC and mobile devices.
Your first step should review the settings for Google Password Manager on your Android device. For this, go to the settings. The specific settings will be different depending on the type of device, but you would like to find something that says: “Password and account” or “password, passke and accounts.” On Samsung phone, you may have to hunt under the safety and privacy category to find a setting for “passwords, passes and accounts”.

Once you track the right screen, make sure that Google is listed and enabled as a default service for password management. Also, if it is closed then automatically turn on the switch to sync app data. From here, tap on entry for Google and set it as an autofil option if it is not already set like this.

To rolish things, you can start by setting an pass on your Android device. Let us use Amazon for this example. On your device, launch Amazon in Chrome and sign in with your Amazon account. Go for settings for “login and security” and tap on the set up button for the pass. The next screen motivates you to use your default authentication method, such as facial identification, fingerprint scan, or pin. Use the appropriate method, and the passky should then be generated and saved.

Warnings
I coordinated problems with a device. The irony is that it was my Android phone. Whatever pass I have made on this phone, it is sinking with three other equipment. Whatever passki I made on three other devices, it was sinked among themselves, but not with my Android phone. I had to manually sink them on my Android device to work.

Another obstacle I faced, he was trying to install and sync a passki for my Google account. As my partner ZDNET reporter Jack Waln discovered, Google does not make it easy to generate passes for its user accounts. This is strange because you think Google must have completed the process by now. But this problem indicates some underlying flaws in the current implementation of Paske. Finally, I was never able to sink my Google account passki in all four devices.
Overall, a password manager is still a better option to save and sync passki not only in different devices but also in different browsers. But if you do not use a password manager and use chrome, the steps here provide at least an alternative method that should be tricked.
