    ZDNET Highlights

    • HP has recently announced its new EliteBook
    • The new EliteBooks are extremely lightweight, with tandem OLED displays and haptic trackpads.
    • Initial testing reveals excellent battery life lasting several days.

HP has just announced its EliteBook Boozing lightweight physical designs, superior repairability, and phenomenal battery life, these laptops could be serious contenders in 2026.

Ahead of CES, I got my first look at the new EliteBook

First of all, the laptop is light, really light. At just 2.2 pounds and 0.6 inches thick, it weighs on par with the lightest laptops we tested in 2025, including the 2.16-pound Asus ZenBook A14 and the 2.6-pound Lenovo Yoga Slim 7X. HP understood the assignment here, delivering a laptop with an all-day battery and premium design elements like an OLED screen, haptic trackpad, and the latest processors from all three manufacturers: Intel, AMD, and now, Qualcomm.

The result is a powerful tool that is versatile enough for most professionals, with advanced features for a pleasant user experience. The suite of IT-friendly features, including a wide range of ports and 5G connectivity, is combined with superior repairability.

The keyboard can be easily replaced, for example, by removing the bottom half of the clamshell and taking the unit out, which the end user or IT team can do relatively easily with the component being completely replaceable.

    Construction and Hardware

There is no real physical difference between the three different processor configurations, although further testing will be required to see which configuration has the longest lasting battery.

I can say that using the Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 3 Panther Lake both performance and battery were impressive in the short run with a 56Wh lithium-ion battery that lasted several days on a charge even with regular use. i loved positively too Small The charger, which has retractable forks for easy portability.

As a business device, all three editions come with integrated GPUs of their respective chipsets. However, in my initial testing of the Panther Lake configuration, I enjoyed surprisingly good gaming performance across several Steam titles. Granted, you may want to make some graphics adjustments for more demanding games, but this capability is a good indication of the chipset’s ability to run graphics-heavy applications. Especially with these bomb demonstrations.

The EliteBook They’re bright and vibrant across the board, with the low-end LCD display going up to 800 nits and featuring a matte, anti-glare WUXGA panel.

Plus: The most premium work laptop I tested in 2025 finally lets you give up Wi-Fi forever

The display looks great, but there are subtle hints of its price point, similar to competing laptops in this product category. For example, the plastic bezels around the screen resemble those on HP’s more affordable models.

This is standard laptop construction, sure, but when placed next to a laptop with no physical bezels, like a MacBook or the Microsoft Surface Laptop for Business, which is one of the most premium business laptops I’ve tested in 2025, there’s a noticeable difference.

The physical construction of the EliteBook To make a laptop so light, trade-offs are necessary. For example, tapping on the palm rest next to the trackpad feels slightly hollow, and there’s a fair amount of flex on both sides of the clamshell. That said, this lightweight device is easy to carry around, slips into a bag unnoticed and weighs less than your water bottle.

    Features and daily use

The EliteBook There’s support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI port, a security lock slot, and space for an optional nano SIM card. For added connectivity, these laptops are compatible with 5G hp goThe manufacturer’s 5G subscription service that works with its built-in eSIM.

    The EliteBook

Also: This ultraportable Asus laptop is my favorite MacBook Air alternative (and it’s better in some ways)

    Overall, EliteBook

At 2.2 pounds, this device is very portable. Similar to the Asus ZenBook A14, my first impression upon picking it up feels more like a mockup or prototype than a fully finished product, as the lightweight material feels a bit plasticky and flexible, which is something that not everyone will like.

However, with next-generation performance and a gorgeous display with multi-day battery life and a competitive price point, it can be hard to care about.
