Huawei announced Hornous 5 operating system with AI features for PC

Huawei on Thursday announced the Harmonus 5, which for its first self-developed operating system (OS) for PCS in the Hormanis Computer Technology and Ecosystem Communication Program in China. It is said to be based on the company’s Harmonus Next Mobile OS, which was declared in October 2024 and has been developed independently of Android. Huawei claims that it has been rebuilt from kernels with a promotion made for harmonous base, harmonous ecosystem and harmonous experience. It can support 1,000 external external devices.

The OS takes advantage of ARK graphics to give a smooth performance, while onboard AI can abbreviate and translate the auxiliary documents, and can give query reactions. Huawei says that its upcoming PC would be operated by Harmonis 5, although it was not known whether an existing model could also support it.

As Huawei, it has developed and optimized more than 150 applications for the use of computer ecosystems. More than 2,000 universal ecosystem applications have also been integrated. Hornous uses arch graphics engines to provide dynamic effects in wallpaper, multi-window and to provide dynamic effects during multitasking. It enables adaptation through individual subjects.

Similar to a Windows-based experience, users can open Windows and adjust their icons and shape to their choice. Additionally, the status bar and task bar can also be adapted. The OS supports gestures like a three-finger slide to open the multitasket center interface as well as a three-finger slide.

A large part of the OS depends on AI to complete various tasks, providing personal materials and smart services based on different scenarios. Taking advantage of the new Star Shield Security Architecture, Hormanis 5 is claimed to give strong user privacy protection. The company emphasizes that there is a strict security check before an application is available on the app market. The OS aims to provide an integrated ecosystem, including smartphones, tablets, PCs and other equipment. According to Huawei, users can share external devices such as keyboard and mouse in devices. It also supports high-speed file transfer between devices.
