Amazon’s Kindle Colorsoft is the first color of the company, and for me, it means one thing: comic books. While there is an adult and a superhero Neer there (like children’s books and even textbooks) other color materials, comics will cause me to go to Amazon’s most expensive kindle. Unfortunately, after spending some time with it, I am not happy with Colorsoft’s comics-reading experience. There are definitely improvements on reading comics on a more traditional tablet, but for most people, the tradeoffs simply will not be worth it.
Why does a color e-read for comics get?
So far, mainstream comic books have a rocky infection for digital. Unlike their text-based counterparts, you cannot read them on black-and-white e-readers without losing all their important colors, which usually means that most people turn to traditional LCD tablets like iPad to read it. Unfortunately, it can be a little tired after a few hours, and there is nothing to sneeze the battery drain.
Kindle Colorsoft, on the surface, solves those problems. Its First color not e-readerBut it is definitely most famous-when I Reviewed itI noted that it has a slightly better color accuracy and low deformation evidence than the competition. In an ideal world, it would be like placing a paper comic book in your hand, with an easy-on-iS e-Ek display and a library on your fingers. Unfortunately, this is not the world in which we live.
Colors just don’t bite it
When opening a comic book on Kindle Colorsoft, first you will notice how little colors are vibrant. If using a black-and-white kindle means that you do not solve the color of your comic, then a kindle does not completely solve using collosoft. The device can only display a total of 4,096 colors, and when it looks impressive on the surface, it can put out the cheapest LCD tablet compared to billions of colors. To be fair, it is a recent title, and the old comics is slightly better, as the methods of printing were used to make them back, yet limited were how many colors they could exclude. If you read a lot of retro title, the colorsoft can catch better-Anaini X-MainFor example, the 80s run on the device seems very pleasant. But pay full attention, and you will look at the next agreement that you have to do while reading comics on the colorsoft.

The screen is very small
Most colors, like e-texts, Kindle Colorsoft has a small screen, when measured diagonally at 7 inches. This is fine for novels, but for comic books, it is less space than the way you have less space than you.
The specific American comic book is 11.75 inches diagonally, which means that the material on the colorsoft is about to fit to fit. It is shown on the device’s low resolution (black-and-white content on the colorsoft at 300 ppi, but technical boundaries mean the benefit of hiding the color material 150 ppi), but some lessons can be almost impossible to read. 11.75 may probably not look more than 8, but also keep in mind that the colorsoft screen is slightly wide aspect ratio compared to most comic books, so you are going to make the picture even smaller even with letterboxing. I have grown very old with the type of squinting that I need to read. Yes, you can zoom by pinching on the screen, but due to the low refresh rate of ek ink, it is very slow to bother on every page, especially because you have to wait for some refresh to scroll through the entire zoomed image.
Ideally, comics readers want Big color e-ink device-To exist, but they are very expensive, and are more for businessmen to take notes than an average person to read with more and more people. In fact, there is not really a consumer level answer for this, and no one hopes that the needle will be transferred to the Amazon’s device that the needle will be badly disappointed.
No comic book apps
I can accept that Kindle Colorsoft was always coming up with some agreement. Amazon can not magically make the e-Ek screen more vibrant, or the larger color can make the e-Ek device more economical. Even with those issues, a color e-reader can be a fun way to enjoy a comic every time, maybe when your eyes are feeling tense or when you are traveling. I will not use it as my main comics reading device, but if I can easily load my library on it, it can be a good option in my bag.
It is a shame that it is a pain to reach comics on Kindle Colorsoft. Like all the kindle, the color of Amazon is closed on its ecosystem, and means that comic availability is scattershot.
What do you think so far?
Right now, I read most of my western comics through DC Universe Anant and Marvel Unlimited Apps. Certainly, it is not ideal for each to pay approximately $ 10 per month, but I have slowly come on these services, thanks to all their-reading models and their large-scale libraries. You can find most of the title of each publisher as the 1930s on these platforms, and you can buy at a time or two membership when you get itching to read a specific series, much cheaper than buying each issue. In addition, the new comics join these services as they are released, and as long as your accession will depend on your specific membership tier, availability is usually slightly more reliable on these apps than other digital services.

This is the reason that my biggest issue with Kindle Colorsoft is that you cannot use any of these apps with it. Instead, you will need to buy each comic problem that you want to read directly from the Amazon Store, which can get a fast price, even if you subscribe to Amazon Prime or Kindle Unlimited.
First quantity of Amazing Spider-ManFor example, the prime is available through the prime, and the other is on the kindle unlimited, but the rest of the price is $ 6 pop, and only 10 issues are a piece. For such a long -running chain, if you want to read everything, then it is a lot compared to what you will get with the Marvel app, which offers a lot, which offers the entire comic to return to its monthly value in the 1960s, as well as the company ever published.
And it is talking about the issues collected. For comics which are available only as single issues, usually new ones, you will have to pay $ 5 for each. While it is not so bad than buying physical copies, compared to other digital options, two issues you will have to buy before buying, which will give you a better price before taking membership of an app. Since I can get very easily through the same issue in half an hour, I can already feel the pain that will put on my wallet.
Kindle store is great for Indie comics that are not easily available anywhere else, and I believe that there is a certain satisfaction in buying myself, even digitally. But a serious tool for reading digital comics still requires at least readers to give the option to subscribe to the two largest comic publishers. Without it, you probably have to pay as much as possible, otherwise, and not even indicating that everything can not happen in Amazon’s store that you want to buy.
If not for comics, why buy a kindle colorsoft?
Maybe I am getting nightpick. For a casual user, Kindle Colorsoft can only be worth it where you want color. This can display your novel cover in color, and I am sure children will get more attractive picture books with it. But even a more comfortable user will participate in problems here-as the color filter ripened in the screen of Colorsoft, even the black-end-white content will come as flicker, which can hurt the distracted sprains of the rainbow or on your performance. If it seems that it will bother you, I will give cheap suggestions Kindle Paperwhite Instead – you will not just save money, but you will get a better experience.
Which means that a good part of the audience of colorsoft is going to be an adult, and especially staunch users are on it. In that case, I cannot just think about any medium that found the same color material for them as comic books, which means that Kindle Colorsoft should be able to keep them against other equipment to read. And while e-Ek is easy on the eyes, there are still lots of compromises for me that want to say that it is still worth it. I am sure some people can work it, especially if they read only a specific series or are fine with getting their content elsewhere and then Manually transfer PDF to their kindleBut most people will still do better with an iPad.
