Even with one of the best smart thermostats, keeping your home cool in summer can really be rapidly expensive, especially if you prefer to explode AC. In this summer, however, I decided to do something different by investing in a smart fan for my living room, and it was good to do so.

Every year, I think of ways to reduce our electricity bill based on the season. For example, in this winter, I picked up a smart space heater so that I could heat my bedroom with my phone and instead of walking the whole night, I can close with my voice just before the bed. With the hope of summer waves in this summer, I felt that I can do the same thing with a smart fan instead of running my air conditioner all the time.

I got the idea after going to my friend’s apartment for the first time, where he had a tower fan from a drao installed in his living room. Although it was not a smart device, it had an easy remote control so that you can change its speed and settings without getting up from the couch. As I have a child who likes to steal and hide the remote as well as a penchent for smart home gadgets, I decided to spend a little more on a smart tower fan, and my investment is already paying.

Here I think a smart fan is the perfect solution for beating heat in this summer and a great addition to your smart home or any house for that case.

    Smart Fan, Simple Setup

As I already have many strands of string lights on her porch and some of her smart bulbs in my house, I decided to take Govi’s 42 -inch smart tower fan 2 Max for my living room.

When you can control the smart home device from various manufacturers using the Google Home or Alexa app or even make your voice with one of the best smart speakers, once I like a brand, I like to live with it. A problem with the test load of various smart home gadgets is that when they are from different brands, you end up with a tonne of different apps on your smartphone.

Govi’s smart fan reached a large cardboard box and was inside, there was a fan, for this a circular stand, a power adapter and my surprise, an attachment with a packet of cotton rods that you can soak in essential oils. I have to admit that I have not yet tried because I am fresh with essential oils, but it’s a good extra and something that I am eager to test.

Stand screw on the bottom of the fan without any equipment for a very simple assembly. However, I really like how there are grooves on its underside that makes it easy to run your power cable from the center to the edge of the stand.

With my smart fan gathered, it was time to set it and see if the 42 -inch tower fan would actually help cool my living room.

Tap, touch or talk for immediate cooling

Since I already had a Govi app installed on my phone, adding the smart tower fan 2 Max was an air. I just tapped the plus icon in the top right corner of the app and waited for a few seconds for scan for new devices. My new smart fan showed almost immediately, and I went through the pairing process and connected it to my home network.

One thing that I really like about Govi is that once you combine your account with Google Home or Alexa, the new devices are automatically added to the platform to your smart home. You have no additional steps to go and it is very easy to control them with your voice. For example, I asked Google to convert the speed of my smart fan into 10 without any problem.

Within the Goev app, you can adjust and customize all settings of Smart Tower Fan 2. You can also lock the device with a schedule or a timer that is perfect if you have a curious child like I do.

One thing that really affects me is that, in addition to turning or closing the oscillation facility of the fan, you can also change the angle. As I have pointed to the correct gesture on the couch in my living room, I have changed the angle to 40 degrees so that it will blow the cold air on everyone sitting there, but does not blow papers or other loose items on the distant edges of the room.

Using Touch-Sensitive Control on top of Govi Smart Tower Fan 2 Max to change its fan speed

Since not everyone in your home can be on board with smart devices or access to the app required to control them, there are also physical controls on the top of the smart tower fan 2. In the middle, there is a power button with a button for night light and a timer on the right, while on the left, there is a mode button and a lock button.

My full favorite thing about these touch-sensitive controls, however, is the slider below them, which you can use to reduce or enhance the speed of the fan.

Govi’s Smart Tower Fan 2 Max has five built -in modes between which you can switch to normal, sleep, nature, DIY models and autos. I accidentally started leaving it on normal before switching to nature mode. I really like this mode because it mimics the feeling of air on a quiet day.

It is as bright as it is calm

Now for the kicker, like my previous Govi Smart heater, Smart Tower Fan 2 Maxhas is under its digital display. Govi has some cheap smart fans without this feature, but I enjoyed it so much on my smart heater that I decided to pay a little extra.

If you ever have one of the best air purifiers installed in a tower fan or a dark room, you will know how easy they are. Just the other day, my wife accidentally stuck on the air purifier in our bedroom, which does not have such light, which strengthened my decision to get a smart fan with one.

Within the Govi app, you can change the color and brightness of the night light of the Smart Tower Fan 2. All original colors are front and center, but you can also open a color wheel to take your own and then save in a separate my color section.

Like Govi’s smart lights, there are some scenes, although not many. Of course, you can do light tasks like a real night light, but you can set it from the forest, the ocean, leisurely, or even sleeping. This is not all, however, there is also a DIY section where you can create your own views that either make light twinkle of smart tower fan 2 or appear as a shield.

I know this is a small thing, but the fun aspect was one of the reasons I decided to convert my house into a smart house in the first place. While my son likes to choose color and likes to see them on the fan, I enjoyed testing all the scenes and was trying to get the color of light to match the mood of the show or film, which I was watching on TV.

    Smart tax worth?

One of the main reasons to invest in some small fans or even a large tower-style fan is to save money on electricity, so that you do not need to set your air conditioner that reduces or run it often. Now with a regular fan, you have to either adjust it or get up to close it or use a remote control involved. It is convenient to have a remote, but it is something else that you may lose or wrong, as well as you have to change its battery at some point.

With such a smart fan, I am able to turn it on or shut it down as well as adjust its settings using my phone or just my voice. Similarly, you can do this from far away with internet connection that forgot to close it before leaving the house if you can close it.

The drao tower fan ($ 99, Amazon) I saw at my friend’s house, is definitely cheaper than the smart I picked up. However, when I bought it back in April, it was on sale as it is now, and instead of paying the entire price, I picked it up for $ 119. For $ 20 additional or $ 30 additional, I would say that all additional features are worth paying the smart tower fan 2 max offers well. In addition, with the top above physical control, you still have a fan of a powerful tower-style when the Internet goes down or if you decide that the smart home lifestyle is not just for you.

Now that I have tested and used Govi’s smart tower fan 2 Max for the last one month, I entice to take a couple for the kitchen and our bedroom. I do not have to clean it yet, but based on its design, it seems that it will be quite easy to do so when the time comes.
