As I saw Google I/O 2025 Kenote, there were many product performances that were actually standing for me, not only because they were technically impressive and exciting, but also because there was no one that I could never imagine showing Apple during a public presentation in the same way.
This ruled me of a centuries -old fight within me. What approach do I like? Google and its incredible “moonshots” which can be really useful or not can be, or even products can be made that I can buy, or apple and its careful assumed that the real world, profit and firmly vested demo in all, all are firmly contained?
Beam me up, beautiful
The performance that woke up my internal struggle the most was Google Beam. If you remember it, the beam is a “AI-first video communication platform”, which has evolved from Google’s Project Starline. In I/O, Google has shown the hardware developed for the beam, which includes a huge television cameras and sensors, and combined with the cloud-based AI algorithms it creates a 3D version of the person at the other end of your call.
It is designed for businesses, and it is quite difficult to see the full 3D effect on the video, but it does not matter. It is very future, a bit crazy, and absolutely compelling. It really wanted me to try it. Video calls have been a stability for me over the years, and when they are completely fine, they are, they cannot repeat the feeling of being in the same room with another person. Google beam is a product from the future. This is a step close Star wars-No hologram and Star trek-So Holo Deck, and why I love the concept. Google proudly shut down it, but because I can’t buy it or even use it, it is a “look what we can do” take showcases and a little more.

I can never see Apple showing a product as visually shock as Google Beam, to hide cameras, sensor arrays and mass dominating screen with my thick bezels. Google has previously shown the beam as project starline, some Apple will never with a new product. However, Apple’s beam contestant (anything like that should be present) will be almost certainly for consumers, and when it is shown that if it is shown, it will probably attach a release date and a price. Assuming that I do not start working for one of the companies working with Google and Beam Partner HP, I can never see it in real life. What is more, knowing how Google can leave projects will not surprise me if it never expanded beyond the initial some companies, and of course not for consumers. The thing is, I don’t care. I am happy to know that it exists exactly.
Welcome to the future

The concept of Google Beam is cooked to adapt to Apple using iPhone cameras and Lidar, Apple TV and FACTIME. Perhaps Apple is working on such a thing? I will not be sure until the company decides to show it, and if it is working similar to something similar that does not last from the prototype stage, I will never know about it almost certainly. Apple’s secret is part of its appeal, but Google’s desire we desire to show its ideas.
When Apple shows me a new product, I can be very certain that at some point in a very distant future, I will be able to buy it. The airpower is always brought as an example of Apple failure, but it is external. A better example of the way Apple handles his forward-screen hardware is the Apple Vision Pro, which was teased and released later, and not once I think it was not that it was not No Come out, only that I knew when I would not be able to bear it.
This year for Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) Keenote, it is possible that we will learn about Apple Vision Pro2, and even if it is another teaser, there is no question that a full launch will happen later. I can be quite certain if it is on stage in WWDC 2025, then it will be a real product at the end of its development, not “Moonshot”. After the chaos of i/o 2025, it will be refreshed, while Google wrapped Android XR, its smart glasses, and Moohan headset at one, an exciting section at the end of its 2025 kenot presentation, it still felt far and experimental.
Android XR uses

I do not mean experimental in a bad way, but “We are still doing all this work, but see what we have already done.” These were smart glass prototypes, at least one of the least live demo did not work as an intention, and there is no final release date for any of it. at allIt does not seem that Google itself will release a pair of pixel glasses, leaving the partners Warbie Parker, Gentle Monster, and Kerning Ivier.
Project Muhan, an Android XR headset built with Samsung, is still a photo provided on a screen, unlike only a few limited demo. But Android XR was displayed in different different ways, we take a initial look at what the team is doing behind the curtain. It seemed practical because I realized that the demo shown is accurate who is playing in the engineer office. This is not a criticism, it is what I want to see.
When, or if, Apple shows us a pair of smart glasses, it will not “look at me”. This will happen because they are almost ready for sale. There are rumors about such products, but this is all. We fully know that Google will be behind a new wave of smart glasses for some time in the future. We know this for some time, because it enjoys us what the future is. Apple will tell us when the future has come, and not a moment ago.
Two different approaches

While I don’t think Apple cares about devices like Google Beam at this stage, it should really see what Google is doing with Android XR, because I came away from the main speaker of both of them. I have never realized the same about the Apple Vision Pro, and it is below Apple’s failure to create the range of products such as a compelling, accessible and attractive XR platform and Google.
This is where Google’s approach works better than Apple. I can see what Google has planned, and when I really know if it will fully execute its plans (or even with it, long -term), I am anticipating the future and are excited to see how the early stage products develop in the devices that I can buy. Google looks and looks ready to take, active, courageous and risk, hangs the result. I know that a part of what I see can never reach me, or these exciting projects can simply fall or cancel. The project Jacquard comes to mind, as I never got to try one of the levy jackets before the project is over.
Low chaos, more approximate order
Does Google’s openness about its experiments sometimes cause disappointment? Yes. Is it completely unaware of what is working for the future of apples, outside some rumors? Yes and no. Apple’s product fragmentation is better in many ways. I am being teased without any pay-off. I want to see something new and calm, then it provides knowledge when I can buy it and how much will be paid. But at the same time, I would love to know what is happening inside the headquarters of Apple, even if I have shown what I have shown is a technical showcase and nothing more.
The keynote speaker of Google I/O 2025 was much more compelling than recent years, and it left me more disputed than ever whether I like its openness, some people seen by me will never be seen again, or if Apple’s no-nursery, carefully cured preview is better, because my expectations should not be investigated. Low chaos, more approximate order. I can’t just choose between them, and eventually, I hope I like both.
