If you have been around me for more than 90 seconds, then you will know that the last word that anyone will use to describe me is ‘quiet’. If you are around me with my child and dog in the tow, you might recommend that I pick up yoga, or wonder how a person gets through such anarchy surrounded by such chaos.
Keeping this in mind, when I heard about the viral ticketing trend of drinking lemon balm tea to reduce stress and anxiety, I decided to try it for a week whether I had seen any difference. Read to know what happened.
What are the benefits of lemon balm tea?
According to recent studies, Lemon Bam Tea provides several benefits for both mental and physical welfare. The lemon balm is a fragrant herb from the mint family, characterized by its lemon-suggested leaves. It has been found to be antiviral properties as well as to be anti-inflammatory.

One of the best researched benefits of consuming lemon balm has its calm effect on the nervous system. It is said to reduce the feelings of stress, anxiety and nervousness. Along with helping you feel less stress, lemon balm is thought to promote your mood and improve cognitive function and memory.
Promote more comfortable sleep
Lemon balm is often used as a natural remedy for conditions such as insomnia and sleep disturbances, due to its cool properties. It is often combined with materials like chamomile so that you can help sleep more easily and improve your overall sleep quality.
Aid digestion
The use of lemon balm is sometimes thanked to the colic for the ability to calm digestive issues in natural remedies. It can also help with inflammation, indigestion, gas and stomach cramps.

Possible side effects associated with lemon balm consumption include headaches, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. If you notice any of these side effects, stop taking lemon balm immediately.
I drank lemon balm tea every day for a week – what happened here
Was there a mystery to feel lemon balm tea to feel calm? What happened here when I was committed to drinking lemon balm tea every day for a week.
Day 1-3
Before popping the kettle, I had to find a lemon balm to drink. I hold a fresh mint plant in my garden, so I assumed that I will be able to buy a lemon balm plant in my local supermarket, and that I will be able to stew the leaves in my wake.
Unfortunately, it was a bit difficult to find, so I ended to buy dried leaves on the Internet instead. I also found a ‘happy’ tea mixture, which had lemon balm, turmeric and apple.
In my first few days, I committed to sink the lemon balm at my desk. I usually drink peppermint tea, and lemon balm is very similar. In addition, this article gave me an excuse to get away from my desk for tea breaks.
Day 4-5
While I did not feel very calm immediately, I needed to urinate more. Along with being full of antioxidants, drinking more tea means more water.
It was convenient that I was challenging this during a heatwave in Britain here, so a dip on a couple of tea during the day helped me to drink more water and avoid dehydration.
In addition, another benefit is that lemon balm tea is naturally caffeine-free. I found that I was drinking less coffee, which is always a good thing, because I feel more worried.
Day 6-7
By the end of the week, I was fully on board with lemon balm tea and could quite easily switch to peppermint. I liked the taste and when I wanted some puncture, I was turned into a mixture of my ‘Happy Tea’.
I saw no difference in my digestion, but I would often not suffer from swelling or indigestion.
While I am not sure that my nervous system feels any calm, I found that the ritual of seating with one after going away from my desk and making a tea, or bringing my son to bed, helped me out calm moments during a very busy day.
I am going to continue drinking lemon balm tea, so perhaps by the end of the month, I will become an Instagram-Perfect Mam, which is calming down in chaos. Till then, I will keep taking deep breaths when my child throws his dinner on the kitchen wall.
