It seems absurd for me to say that I went a full month without my apple watch. If you know me, or even if you have just followed my work, you probably know that Apple Watch is nothing helpful to me – practically part of my identity.
So deciding to lock my Apple Watch Series 10 and wearing only one Oura ring for a month … strange, at least to say. But enjoyed test of OURA Ring 4 for the last few months, I was curious whether it could meet my wearing needs. Stress tracking, in particular, is right now for me a very big priority, and the OURA ring is packed with a broad, science-supported insight.
In fact, to understand the trade-off between the best smartwatch and the best smart ring, and because I know that most people will really choose one or the other, I went into all. No Apple Watch, just Ona Ring: All of this went down.
OURA ring is a * completely * different stretch
I think the OURA ring is as grand as a fitness tracker. I chose Rose Gold version, and it fits my other jewels (rings, bracelets, earrings, you fully fit to name it.) Unlike a smartwatch, it is not that much in your face. It is prudent, elegant and completely environment.
For the first few days, I loved this low-profile vib. It felt almost like a tech detox, as if I was re-learning how only without hyper-connecting every second. Dare I say it was peaceful,
But this feeling was not forever. For about a week in this small experiment of mine, I began to recall the ouster of performing on my wrist. I missed the mid-walk to see my distance and heart rate. I quickly missed on being able to check the weather. When I closed my rings for the day, I also recalled a little animated festival. The OURA ring is beautiful and simple as compared to Apple Watch, simplicity comes at a cost.
Fitness Tracking: Real-Time vs. retroactive
The OURA Ring takes a passive approach to fitness tracking. I will just go about my day, and later, the app filled me to my activity. This is refreshed for those who crave low pressure-induced relationship with movement. You simply live your life, and track your tasks in the OURA background.
But if you are someone like me, who likes a real -time response, it can feel limited. I like to burn my calories and monitor heart rate during Workout, not later. For health reasons, I avoid increasing my heart rate a lot, and without real -time data, it was as if I was blindfolding. It is not very good when you are trying to take care of your fitness.
There is also a situation of step count. We have conducted side-by-side tests showing that the Apple Watch is very accurate for the watch step count, and of course, I noticed that when I was banking, nothing happened when it did not seem right. This is not the biggest deal for me personally, but it is worth considering when you are deciding which fitness tracker is right for you.
Small things that made a big difference
Environment health tracking is one thing. Environmental life tracking? This is completely another story. I did not realize how much I trusted my apple clock for everyday suitability (or originally to manage my life) until they went away.
Things like taking a phone call from my wrist when my phone was buried deeply in my tot bag. Whenever I don’t remember that I put my phone down and set time for my cloth washing cycle.
In addition, in the last month, I missed out more than normal that I am completely convinced that some of my friendship is now hanging with a thread.
Final decision: I am the team Apple Watch (but not digging my OURA ring)
After a month of staying especially with the OURA ring, I have come to the conclusion that if I only want to choose a wearing device, I will choose Apple Watch.
This is an easy decision, really. Freedom to access all health facilities without paying real -time data, daily suitability, and monthly membership (unless you want Apple Fitness+) See more full package for me to Apple.
Meanwhile, the OURA ring requires a subscription to unlock most of its best insights, which has inspired the Internet to look for OURA ring options without recurring fees.
He said, I am definitely not leaving my Ora ring, because this is my life and there is no high strength to force me to take one or the other. I Love My ring for facilities such as stress tracking, sleep chronotypes, cycle tracking, and deepening of things such as my cardiovascular age and flexibility for stress.
So finally, it’s not a story about Apple Watch at all Vs. OURA Ring. But this experiment highlighted that the wearbals do not need to be a shape-fit-all.
