I shoot a lot of videos: Everything from simple interviews to full run-and-gun film production. One of the most challenging aspects of this is getting good voice. When it comes to audio and film, Murphy’s rule has a true field day. In other words, if it can be wrong… then it will happen.
So I always take many mix. I use a pair of high-end Sony Lavs for single interview or speaking head pieces, because their sound quality is outstanding.
Too: One of the best podcasting microphones I tested is not created by Yeti or rider
But there are times when Sonis is not the easiest pair to use. Not only do you need to worry about the battery (they use AA and dry them quickly), but you will also have to worry about rustling and response from the clothing contacting the mike.
So at any time I can test a new pair of Lavalier Mix, I jump on the chance. When mono sent me Wave T5I was more happy than obliged.
When I unproves the mix, my first idea was, “Awww, how cute! I make these sounds hollow and tinni bet.”
Boy, was I wrong.
Do not consider me wrong, there is no match for Wave T5S Sonis (which is also five times the cost of five times), but for a rapid interview or when I just have my phone, you can bet that these lavs will be taken out of my travel storage and clipped.
The wave T5 looks big in my small hand.

My experience
My initial impression of Maono Wave T5 Lavalier Mics was not at all encouraging. They look unique and they are small, but they have some options to attach them with clothes. You can also use double-side tape to be creative with MIC placement.
The first thing I did (after charging the MIC for a while – they arrived with a deepflained battery) The receiver had to connect to my Sony α7 III camera, connect the clip mount (a little more on it), and then attach the clip to my clothes. I hit the record and stood in front of the camera to record a small section of the video.
Too: Everything you need to start podcast
After killing the stop, I removed the SD card from Sony, put it in my IMAC card reader, found the clip, and found the hit play.
Very good. The sound really impressed me.
For such small and light mix, they used to do amazingly good work. As I have mentioned earlier, they do not stand for my Sony Lavs, but they definitely make better sound than any lavelear tested at this price ($ 89 On Amazon).
You will find three separate receivers in the Wave T5 kit.

High-end Soni lavs have more resonance and depth at a low end. But this does not mean that Maono MICS is either missed. They have some depth, not just like Sonis. Given that Maono Mics are far more budget -friendly, they make for a great option.
Too: I have tested hundreds of microphones, but a special feature keeps the top for me
I tested the mixture of the mix and found that I was able to go anywhere in my house (which is only 1,100 sq ft) and had zero intervention or interval. Of course, I was testing inside, where I can control the environment. It will probably be necessary to use the inclusive windscreen to go out to help reduce air noise.
How to attach MICS
Here, you have some options. First, the mic has a magnet on the back, which means that you can easily connect it to a metal surface. And since Mix weighs up next to nothing and magnets are very strong, you will not have to worry about their fall.
The next method is an attached clip, which uses magnets. The clips are deep and strong, which are enough to be attached, even with movement.
Finally, Wave T5 MICS contains a small, round magnet to attach the mike into clothing (so you can keep them strategically where you need). With the clip, you are limited to things like lapels, shirt neck, hats, etc., but Magnets put you wherever you mix. Another option (one that is not included with MIC or even mentioned in manual) is using double-acted tape, so you can attach whatever surface the mike needs.
Too: This wireless microphone can handle rain and range up to 300 meters – and I’m really excited
Receiver
The kit consists of three receivers:
- To connect through 3.5 mm cable (which I used).
- To connect to an Android phone.
- To connect to an iPhone.
Each receiver is very small and easy to use. Even better, MIC is automatically combined with the receiver, so the set takes up seconds. You can get (for audio) as a silly proof about MICS.
The 3.5 mm receiver has a clip, so you can attach it to something. I was able to clip it from my Sony camera cage, and it worked well. The Wave T5 also includes a 3.5 mm cable, so you will not have to find a scramble and one before shooting.
Too: I always recommend this wireless microphone to creative professionals
ZDNET purchase advice
Will I ever use these MICS for a serious video shoot? However, I will consider them to interview them, where my Sony Mix is not convenient, and as backup.
However, if you need a luelier mike for simple use (especially when a phone you have the only equipment), Maono wave t5 Lavalier Mics are a great purchase. You can bet that I will consider them as backup, should my sonis fail. And because these are very easy to use, I can imagine using them in different situations, when more expensive or bulkier mixes are not an option.
