I have tested a new coffee maker every month for last year, here in Techradar, and some real gems.
For example, Jura J10 is a completely automatic powerhouse to make warm and cold drinks in the touch of a button, while the manual Smeg Mini Pro is clearly grand, and excellent for stability.
However, no matter how many other machines I try, at the end of the day my kitchen counter is still sitting the same: Gagia Classic Pro.
It is a very popular small manual espresso machine, and for good reasons. It is very fun to use, it is a tinker’s dream – and it is also a minor price at about $ 500 / £ 400 / AU $ 800.
Likes a lot about this machine. In our Gaggia Classic Pro Review, we said that it is a “good-looking, well-manufactured tool” and it “proved to be a super-throne to decoction acute, smooth aspressos with very little experiment.”
However, when the new, Lady Gagia (as we call her at home) is not without her.
For example, there is no mass of space between the portfillter and the drip tray, meaning that you can only fit under the small cup (I usually use a shot glass with measures printed on the side). In addition, the tray is so narrow that you can forget about putting coffee under a scale because it drips.
There is no PID controller to keep the temperature stable such as you receive some premium in coffee machines, either, and small boilers of Gaggia means that you can exit the steam (quite literally) before preparing your milk.
The opposite is that there is a large community of molesting enthusiasts with this very popular small machine, sharing advice, and even kits selling kits allow you to revise you in your heart content – such as examples in the Reddit Post below.
Friends, I finally upgraded a PID from Barista Gadgets. From r/gaggiaclassic
For example, US-based Barista gadgets And UK site Shades of coffee Sell long drip trays that can accommodate a scale, and shallow trays so that you can use a large cup. There are also devices that continuously add a small amount of water to the boiler, so you can keep steaming milk for a long time without drought.
The Shades of Coffee also makes and sells for the steam arm of the machine, as well as there are colored lighting kits to illuminate the water tank so that you can see the level more easily (and it looks like a gaming PC). And if your gagia still does not look cold enough, you can also lift a wooden knob to replace the plastic that controls steam pressure.
Really Geeky Looks feeling? take a look at GagluinoWhich is an open source project that aims to make your machine as possible as possible, allowing you to control the pressure, temperature and flow of each shot.
