I am in the process of installing smart light switches in every room of my house. Usually, my family did not have a strong opinion about my wild technical experiments, but when I put a new switch in my children’s room, they were very happy, I had to consider why.
Smart switch can make a dull thing exciting

If you have rocker switches in your home, switching on the tapo switch cannot feel as Stark. My smart switches are not really switch. They are buttons. This is why they have lights, because otherwise there are no indications that they are on or closed.

Small fingers are not quite adept as adults maneuvering things. It can take a conscious effort of a young child to push the switch up or down properly. But button? Even infants have come to know. All these have to do so that it is smash.
I know when the lights occur while sleeping last
For me, practical reasons were that I wanted smart lights in the children’s room apart from my perfectist streak. My children share a room, and sometimes they live late with lights. A smart light gives me insight when they are playing at bedtime.
Sometimes my older children, who sleep well with lights, prefer to turn them in the middle of the night, wake up our young baby who sleeps better with the dark color of the room. If this happens, smart lights can show me.
This degree of surveillance feels a scary
While I have the power to control the light of children from a distance, I appoint that power with restraint. I think the light is disappointing about suddenly going out. I do not even want to take the current enthusiasm of my children, which I have, revealing this new power, turned the source of enthusiasm into a frustration – or even a fear.
I deploy Shakti, while they sleep, protect themselves from getting out of bed in the middle of the night. While our children now let the nights sleep without any hindrance, it is still not something that I offer completely. In the last decade of my life, most of the small people have been dedicated to trying enough sleep which neither give importance to my sleep nor their own. I am happy for technical solutions that can probably help with both.
I have shed her light on a schedule
Fortunately, smart lights provide another solution. I can set the lights to close on a schedule. Right now, they are ready to go out at 11 am. To be clear, I manually close the main light closer to the children’s gold, but just if I forget, or the baby turns on the light after my departure, the light will still not be overnight.
In addition, a light set on a schedule does not come with viewers. I can tell the children that if the question comes, the light becomes automated.
With the presence of this remote insight, which lights are on and when reminds me how scary this information can be. And if I feel like this as my parents, it is even more about reflecting on a stranger of such insight into our house.
