I left the windows for Linux- and I’m never looking back

Windows is a great operating system, and depending on your needs, your only choice may be. However, if you are bold enough to leave, you will find that Linux is a very useful option. I have left the windows for Linux, and I have gone for good.

    1

There are lots of random bugs in Windows

One of my biggest issues with windows you come in use of day-to-day random bug. The latest example of this is a green screen of death that crashes my system every time when I connect my Xbox controller to my PC on Bluetooth. The issue took place on the latest stable release, which had no warning and there was no clear reason – every time I was associated with my controller, it decided to crash.

I am not alone in this. You can find online forums and subredits that are full of complaints about random issues in windows that exit anywhere. They eventually are fixed, but Microsoft takes a long time to fix these short issues. The company focuses on connecting more features and making beauty changes to the operating system.

While this is important, the user experience takes a backseat. No matter how good your OS looks, if the core functionality is sacrificed, you are not going to give good time using your PC.

Don’t update your PC yet – Latest Windows 11 Patch Brake File Explorer

The Windows 11 KB5051987 update stopped the File Explorer from working.

Despite being launched in 2021, Windows still feels like a work-in-tradition OS in 2025. And gradually it can be the ideology of Microsoft with OS while improving it over time, it does not work for me. I cannot sit with a system that has broken the functionality because the company has decided that some minor beauty or system was more important than maintaining twicth functionality.

Updates can make or break your system

Updates on Windows are a mixed bag. An update can add a cool feature or a new view twick, but it can also break some functionality on your PC. And when it does, you will not feel almost certainly during the 10-day rollback period. Gives microsoft.

Updates are also finally forced. It is well known that Microsoft broke millions of PCs with 24h2 updates for Windows 11, and forced the updates on reluctant users after a while. And if you are using Windows 10, you definitely know about the company that Windows is hitting your best OS in four decades since 1.0.

Another major problem with Windows updates is that you have very little control over update timing and installation. Windows also forces automatic restarts after the update several times, which can cause major disruption when this happens during the work hours. There are settings to avoid this, but when restarting my PC once every two weeks, I get hit with an automatic update. This is annoying when this happens, especially when Windows clearly knows my work hours and should stop its own settings from happening.

The update system of Linux is very compartmentalized, which means that you can update individual packages, groups of package, or the entire OS at once. Linux updates are more stable, and it does not restart for most updates you encounter.

AI is everywhere, no good reason

Microsoft push for AI, while not completely useless, is overcome for most people. Even the notepad integrated AI into it, and it is the simplest of Windows tools. Papard features in Windows in most AIs of Microsoft are usually not either usable, as you need Microsoft 365 membership to use them.

I do not want AI in every corner of my OS. Windows thus leaves me no choice, but to use a bloated platform with features that I will not use, but either cannot disable. These AI features can also be a large -scale privacy risk, as they need to log in to your Microsoft account, on which you want to use them. (The need to use a microsoft account for Windows as a whole is not mentioned.)

Why you should try to remember Windows seriously

There is a lot to offer it.

Some large AI characteristics of Microsoft, such as recall, are a complete privacy nightmare. An OS is continuously screenshotting that what you are doing on your PC is nothing. The sad thing is that recall is really useful, and can be a great feature if applied in mind the privacy. Microsoft has since worked on Quirks and wants you to recall again, but the loss is done.

Windows require a lot of hardware resources

Unless you are running relatively modern hardware for 2025, you will not enjoy Windows 11 experience. The OS requires a lot of hardware resources, which leave Little headrooms for sports and programs. This gives a false perception that your PC is slow, which urges users to upgrade their otherwise fully competent machines.

The requirement of TPM 2.0 to run Windows 11, while is important for safety, is not alternate. This is not a great step because it presents hundreds of thousands of people, if not millions, PC obsolete (if you want to live with windows).

Even if you manage to achieve Windows 11 and run on an old PC, there is a possibility that you are going to use only performance issues about every program. I have experienced this on my previous machines, where upgrading from Windows 10 to 11 has led to a noticeable decline in performance when running games and creative programs such as Premier Pro and Photoshop.

You can use a dumbleting tool to get a sharp, cleaner version of Windows. However, this method requires an external download, feeding with settings, and to know about the additional overhead of Windows 11 in the first place. This is not a great approach to the vast majority of Windows users, who may not have technical information to download Github tools.

    5

Security and privacy are still terrible

Windows 11 was considered large on privacy, and to be fair, Microsoft provides a lot of privacy and security control to protect your system. Windows Security has also traveled a long way, which has eliminated the requirement of the antivirus solution paid. However, default Windows settings cannot do your life much often.

Windows have benefits to allow your privacy to invade, but this does not change the fact that your use is sent back to the data microsoft (and often with third parties). If you can do without convenience, Windows are privacy settings that you should change immediately.

The rapid inclusion of AI facilities is also making the situation worse. Remember on the one hand, a lot of core Windows components are gaining new AI abilities that you answer what you are doing, Microsoft can harvest you by increasing the amount of data on a large scale. When you can now tell your PC which settings you want to change, you are trying to share data inadvertently and build AI Ecosystem Microsoft.

Finally, Microsoft collects a large amount of data on you. This includes your location, how you use products and services, which programs are installed on your system and their settings and voice data. And if you use the edge, your browsing activity is also included.

On the other hand, Linux, actively does not track user data. Any data collection occurs only when you choose a specific feature, which is compared to the default facility.

It is not easy to jump from Windows to Linux, especially if you are not comfortable using a virtual machine, and fully working with new platforms with swaping the entire OS. This can be a lot at first, but it is definitely worth troubled.
