Whether it is Windows Vista, KDE Plasma, or Android – I have never been a fan of widgets. Samsung’s One UI 7 updated turned to my Galaxy Z fold 6. Now when you look at my homescreen, you all see the widget.
I do not like chaos. I find out the chaos in my house, and I am going more about keeping it away from my screen. When my colleague wrote how he spreads all the icons in his computer desktop, I did not judge, but I had to press a gag. I can’t either.
Over the years, I have kept my PC background ancient.

Why do I purify every icon from my desktop, including taskbar
No, I do not want the installer to place an icon on your desktop.
My phones are not separated. I have often removed everything except a single search bar above or below, using the Nova Launcher to help me get the right place (they were days). Then, when I started using my phone as my PC and I discovered Niagra Launcher, it felt like an ideal match.
Samsung One UI 7 replaced it
I got my debut in this industry when the smartphones were still getting their bearings. Each new version of Android entered a major view redesign, which has various ways to interact with new iconography and our equipment. Then things stabilized, and the software has felt stable for a decade, with a series of recurrent updates, which is now better than our phone ten years ago.
It is now hitting the point where I cannot tell you which version of Android I am using without diving in the Settings menu, and I write about Android devices every week.
A Samsung’s UI 7 update was the first mobile update that I was encouraging over the years. I think Samsung loved visual changes- new icons, transportation and vacancy. Now that it has arrived, the expansion focuses at the next level, and it includes widgets.

Samsung’s One UI7 has changed how I feel about default Android Launcher
I refused to touch the touchwiz, but I believe in redemption.
When I am experiencing this on a Samsung device, many improvements in the widget are commonly shared in Android. Widgets are now better spread, as they used to be. It is easy to craft a homescreen that does not look that all the bits of information are crammed together. Samsung’s widget consists of round corners and is usually transparent, allowing the background to peep.
Available widgets have also reconciled with the way they use their devices. They give me flexibility to tailor my phone for their needs, no designer can predict on their own. This makes the phone feel more individual than a folder filled with grid or apps.
When my phone stops, I now have five pages widgets. When my phone is open, it is two and a half.
Here are some of my favorites
With the journal Samsung notes Daily, and it is helpful in many notes accessible directly from my homescreen. Through the use of widget stacks, I can also place several notes inside the same widget, which is an easy way to organize projects.
I keep myself Samsung calendar Events and Samsung reminder Work that appears at a glance. Both these apps are well integrated together. Not only widgets share the same vibe, but the apps are interconnected. Work can appear in my calendar, and I can make task with the calendar app.
I can see important budget categories that I have created YanabIt helps to guess the money available to me before spending me. I do not need to know the current status of my mortgage category, because we spend that amount once every month, but it is helpful in keeping an eye on how much is left for grocery items or how much I can leave the graphic novels.
I have a section dedicated to working, where I can see the pitches that I need to work in the coming weeks. We use Posture How to provide a competent widget here. I have kept Samsung voice recorder Widget next to it, because I want to bring down ideas sometimes while I am walking or driving.
I also keep Samsung music Accessible I have a big collection of low-Fi music, which I bought that I hear while working or wherever I am or no matter what I am doing.
I do not pitch my list of widgets as the list of best widgets from there. These are some of them that I use, and most of them are presented on Samsung phones. A colleague of mine has created a similar list of his favorite Android widgets, except that the Google version instead.
