Alienware has just announced some new gaming laptops that go by ‘Arora’ and have a simple and clean design. We are talking on the front edge of round corners, a single, simple logo, a “bright” (slope) for a one-handed opening, and there is no thermal shelf at the back.
I like it a lot, but I know that some such a minimal style finds boring. Of course, these laptops are not minimal by non-boiling standards, but by Alienware Standards? These are as modest as it can. His design is a huge departure from his general MO.
Laptops are following the company’s ‘AW30’ design language earlier this year, which is “inspired by supernatural events” (for alienware? You don’t say). As AlienwareIt is a “brand-new design language … designed to provoke the sense of mystery and transit that is undeniably alienware.”
Things become a bit misleading, however, when the alienware says its Area -51 laptop Include the AW30 design language, and yet the company wants to separate them from the new Arora line:
“Moving forward, you will look at two different levels in the alienware desktops and laptops: Area -51 (IS) designed for those who demand maximum performance and premium features in a durable, strong design. Arora (IS) offers strong performance within a smooth, well -organized form.”
Whatever is widespread strategy, with these Arora laptops – Alienware 16 Arora and Alienware 16X Arora – we know what we are getting on the design front. On the glasses front, 16x DDR5 appears as a more powerful version with 64 GB (instead of 32 GB) of RAM, new core ultra chips, RGB (instead of single-ring) lighting, and a 240 Hz (instead of 120 Hz) refreshing rates. Non-X, however, RTX will provide more options than 5060/70.

In addition to the sleaker design, this laptop has a ‘stealth mode’, which “enables users to quickly infection (press by pressing F7) in a cool operating mode with low light and fan noise, expanding food and battery life for a professional environment.”
If thermal is a concern, especially given the lack of a thermal shelf behind the screen hinge, the alienware assures us that this “thermal package” is now under the device. This “strategically takes advantage of unused space where a long rear leg will be located normally. Cryo-chamber coined, this solution helps maximize airflow intake and efficiently remove the heat out of the strategic vent.”
I know that not everyone is in such simple designs, but I am a little sucking for it. “Interstater Indigo” color scheme, top-of-keyboard Aries speakers, and round edges killed all the right places for me. Although a lot will depend on what the pricing looks, as we just know that “the selected configuration of the alienware Arora laptop will start from £ 899 in EMEA on May 27, 2025” and “Additional models will come soon.”
A initial price does not tell us much, given that the configuration will go down with a RTX 3050. We have to wait and see. They should be out for testing in booth #12019 in PAX East at the end of this week, if anyone takes a look.
