I tested Samsung’s $ 60 Galaxy Fit 3: it’s basic, but in a good way

Galaxy fit 3 taters on the edge of a smartwatch, and a fitness tracker. It makes it difficult to classify everything from the size between the size to its sparse smart features. But as I tested this simple and attractive wrist device, its main appeal crystal became clear.

At a time when there are dozens of smartwatches for your attention, with a circular array of features, the Fit 3 stands out due to its direct appeal and a price that has a Flagship Galaxy Watch 7 and hundreds of dollars less than other competitors, such as OnePlus Watch 3.

Galaxy Fit 3 Design

At first glance, its 1.6-inch (40 mm) AMOLED screen can easily pass for a full-sized smartwatch-not what you usually expect from a tracker. It has a round rectangular performance with an aluminum frame that comes in the subtle rose gold (eg mine), silver or dark brown. Its actual hybrid form indicates only a few aspects of its design. The rectangular screen is much narrow than those you will find on other smartwatches, such as Amazfit BIP 6 or even Apple Watch. By default, it is limited about how much information you can see on the screen, but in my opinion, it makes the design feel more elegant. In addition, Fit 3 has only one physical button (no crown or rotation is bezel).

Where it really shines is battery life. Working on a full throttle, the clock lasted for three days, and it includes an active allways-on display, mirroring of all information from my phone, sleep tracking and at least one workout per day. Without always-on display, you may be able to promise Samsung’s 13 days. This longevity is in part due to the short screen and because the fit 3 wear OS is not running a feature-rich operating system, which you will find in the new Galaxy watch lineup. Galaxy Fit 3 ‘Smart’ features (or its lack)

Here the big sacrifice, and the reason for this I do not consider Fit 3 a complete smartwatch, its limited smart features. Even when combined with a galaxy phone (I paired it with Galaxy S25 Plus), its functionality feels restricted and this voice does not support dictation or mobile payment. It is also compatible with non-galaxy Android phones, but you will lose even more functionality like camera remote or alarm syncing.

I did not think I would miss a voice assistant as I had done, but wearing fit 3 I revealed that dictation and voice commands have become a big part of how I use smartwatch, whether it is a text response, when I cook or call and call. Let’s take out one thing: Fit 3 does not have a built -in GPS. This means that if you really want to make accurate tracking then you will be taken on your phone during the run. This was my biggest complaint, as far as fitness features run, as the S25 Plus is not the most of friends, and there are times when I want to leave it behind and disconnect it for 30 minutes. I tried to do 5K without my phone, and the resulting Fit 3 run tracking and mapping closed about half a kilometer, or three-tenth of a mile.

Fit 3 can track more than 100 different exercises and will automatically log in log, walk, rowing and elliptical workouts. However, auto-tracking is not capable by default, so you have to toggle it in settings. You can also swim it (not just waterciiling) because it is rated for 5atm (50 m) and has an IP68 rating.

I tested heart rate tracking with my polar chest lease (gold standard for consumer-supporting heart rate monitoring) and found that it is generally accurate, although slow to register the heart rate spikes. This is quite common with most wrist-based devices I have tested. Once I contacted my peak heart rate (all-out attempt), Fit 3 showed a difference of 2- to 5-point compared to the chest lease and in a few seconds to catch. However, in the workout summary, the last number for average and peak heart rate was the same and within 2 points of each other.

Fit 3 also provides high and low heart rate alert, but it lacks ECG app. It can monitor the level of stress and blood oxygen saturation, and even the facility to detect a decline that calls emergency services if it feels a difficult decline and you don’t get up. You can manually activate SOS by pressing the side button five times.

Galaxy Fit 3 Sleep

Fit 3 has sleep tracking features, which are similar to Samsung’s major Galaxy watches. Fit 3 can detect sleep stages and even monitor snoring using the microphone of the Galaxy phone. After seven nights, it also provides personal sleep coaching, although I did not deposit enough data in my test to activate this feature. It also gives a sleeping score each morning that should be correlated with your energy levels, but I found it a little suspicious, seeing that it gave me a score of 91 (aka “excellent”) in one night when I slept for only six and a half hours.

Galaxy Fit 3 is not going to fly anyone with its characteristics or design, but it can happen with its price.
