I tested this OURA ring option with such health tracking facilities, but at half the price

    Key takeaways of zdnet

    • The Ringcon Jean 2 Air is a $ 200 smart ring, the first membership-free and affordable smart rings I have tested.
    • Battery life can use for eight or nine days, and sleep data collections use rivals.
    • AI health partner is lacking feature, and given the cheap nature of a health wearer, it is necessary to look at the privacy policy of the brand.

Smart rings are growing in popularity, but can run from the big names – The Ous, Samsung and Ultrahumans – $ 300 to $ 400. It is not counting the subscription fee, which some customers pay for full access to all the data that collects smart ring. With all these gallows of a adjacent recession, the penis was pinned and wallet can be seen, which currently have money for $ 400 smart ring?

Also: How do we test smart rings in ZDNET in 2025

I had not yet tested a high-quality and inexpensive smart ring from a notable brand, but the newest smart ring from Ringcon, Ringcon General 2 AirIt can change. This is the first ring I have tested that without any sales or special deal, retail for low price as $ 160.

I have worn Ringcon’s smart ring for weeks, to see how the brand’s budget ring is in the form of sleep and activity tracker. Keep reading to know how it compares Ringcon General 2, which costs $ 100 more, and OURA Ring 4, which is doubled.

Smart Ring Ringcon looks similar to and feels the same, with the main difference of charging case and battery size. General 2’s charging case has enough power to promote smart ring for 150 days, and the ring has a battery life of up to 12 days.

On the other hand, General 2 air does not come up with a charging case equipped with excess juice, and it advertises a 10-day battery life (however, in my test, I get about eight days). Even though General 2 Air Battery is less than General 2, both match the battery life of Ringcon Ring Match or OUAA ring, Ultrahman Ring Air and Samsung Galaxy Ring.

    Also: OURA RIN

General 2 air is made of stainless steel, which is more affordable material than the aerospace-grade titanium of General 2. Despite the material, General 2 is comfortable to wear air and is not noticeable around my finger. It comes in the finish of a silver and gold, and the available sizes are from six to 14.

Both rings are associated with the same app experience, so whether you are using $ 300 ring or $ 200 ring, you will get your data and insight, which presents you in the same way. Like General 2, General 2 air track sleeps, stress, vital and activity. Wellness takes all those factors and daily scores to give the balance score.

Wellness balance is displayed like a petal on four-petal flowers, and each biometric is ranked out of 100. At the beginning of the day, the activity petals are none, but the activity score increases as I exercise or walk. At the end of the day, I can see my total welfare balance, and this score offers a holistic picture of my health.

As I said in my spotlight of Ringcon General 2, negative for this wellness balance is the absence of a readiness or recovery score that other wearbals have calculated users at the beginning of their day and provided how their body is back from activity and how much activity or rest for the day. This recovery score provides insight into the user’s overall health and flexibility, and it is helpful for those who are following a training diet, to know how to treat your body each day.

Also: Apple Watch Series 11 is a feature that is far from making my OURA ring.

I tested the Ringcon Jean 2 Air Hand with my OURA Ring 4, and both devices collected quite similar health matrix. One night, Aura gave me an 87 sleep score, and Ringcon gave me 86. Oma said that my overnight heart rate was 48 beat per minute, while Ringcon said that 49 beats per minute. Ora said that my average heart rate was 55 beats per minute, and Ringcon said it was 52. While not the same, these numbers are close.

Activity data is a different story. One day, Aura said that I went up to 7,454, while Ringcon said that I went to 5,706. It was a modestly active day when I traveled 25 minutes on foot. On an acutely active day, when I went to the gym for two hours and was out and about it, OURA calculated that I went 16,291, and Ringcon calculated that I went 15,454.

Ringcon advertises a “AI Health Partner” as a function of its app experience. Every day, AI partner tells you the information, such as how you slept or do you hit the count of your step, and then ask questions based on your behavior. These summary are not available on the main page where sleep, activity and stress data are displayed – they are only available on the AI tab. But unlike other AI assistants, you cannot type the personal answer to these questions.

Instead, you lift from the options of reactions. It did not feel like AI for me because it was not as personal, and the reactions you could choose were simple; Rather, it felt like a multiple choice health summary. It is a classic case of a brand that slaps AI on a feature that is not really AI.

What I like about Ringcon Smart Rings is that they will properly tell you when the ring will die and will inform the user to charge prematurely. This is a useful feature, I hope to adopt other smart ring brands.

Also: OURA Ring 3 vs OURA RING 4: Old, discounted smart ring or opt for the latest?

A concern about a smart ring is inexpensive whether the brand is securing and preserving the user’s data. Health data is valuable, and in the wrong hands, it can be sent to advertisers or health insurance agencies. Smart ring brands pay a lot of money to protect such data, which is why they spend as much as they do.

A ringcon representative immediately did not answer my questions as to why the smart ring can be so cheap, if the user data is safe and preserved, or if it is being compromised for a low -cost smart ring. However, I reviewed the ringcon Privacy Policy The user data is collected, used, and stored. I recommend looking at a health wearable privacy policy before purchasing a ring, so you understand how a company keeps your information safe and safe.

    ZDNET purchase advice

So, should you buy this $ 200 smart ring? If you are looking for an alternative to some big names, which will not spend you, but will collect almost the same level of health data, then I will suggest Ringcon Jean 2 Air.

With competitive battery life, the data display that matches its $ 300 siblings, and the data collection that gets closer to OURA Ring 4, Ringcon Jean 2 Air is one of the first $ 200 smart rings, which I have tested that I can confidently suit the budget-friendly and smart ring-curious shopper.
