After one year of tireless flare, I realized that most phone photography advice is just noise. If you are tired of normal tips that are never sticks, these are those who quietly changed my photos.
1
You can’t see your way in “develop your style”
When I was an early photographer, I spent hours on YouTube how I would find my photographic style. Although I started taking pictures, I did not know what I really wanted to look like my images. So, I thought someone else would be able to tell me.
After a few months, I realized that I was essentially listening to the same advice, many times again prepared. It would have been right if it had helped me improve me, but unfortunately, it was not. Therefore, I decided to take matters into my hands.
Finally, I only went out and discovered my style by taking photos. Over time, I learned new editing techniques. My composition also bowed to the things that I felt interesting, which unknowingly developed my style.
2
Do not pigeon yourself in a style
A lot of photographers will ask you to stick to a style or style, but I firmly disagree – especially if you are a fond. Despite your creative discovery, you will only live with it for a long time if you like what you are doing. I tried to take pictures in various styles, which really did not fit with what I wanted, and each time, I felt internal resistance.
I think you are better than taking pictures of whatever you want; It does not matter that they cross different styles. For example, I sometimes take pictures of my mood and what is around me, streets, landscapes and pictures. In addition to helping me maintain my passion for photography, this authenticity has also led the work paid.
As you take more photos, you will look at common topics – especially if you capture things that you like to be photographed anyway.
3
Like -as you improve, be more selective with your photos
I used to post everything I had photographed in my early days. Because I had no reference, I thought my photos were really better. But as I became more experienced, the frequency of sharing my images also fell.
Before I realized (and learned from other photographers), an internal crisis arose for a few months that it is a common part of the journey. Apart from not sharing all your images, I also take longer to edit them. Before making intense adjustment, I am happy for the photo to spend a few months on my camera roll.
Because I am more selective with images that I share, I am also more selective as to what photos I take in the first place as a result.

You won’t like most of your photos, and that’s fine
Given the work of other photographers, I did not initially feel that I was looking at the best pieces selected to share with the world. Instead, I wondered why I did not like most of my images. Apart from this, I was also upset that I felt as if the gap between me and them was inaccessible.
After a while, however, I realized that even the best photographers do not like most pictures. I understood that taking 10 good photos per session was completely normal, and in fact, I was crossing that number by a large margin.
You do not need to edit every picture of doing anything for that case, or with it. Sometimes it is fine to remove and move forward.
The entire point of photography is to express fun and art; Not every picture is going to be an all -time great, and that’s fine.
5
Do not exempt any lighting status
Many photographers on YouTube and Reddit told me that I should take pictures only at a certain time of the day. For example, Golden Hour is an all -time classic time to go on a photoshoot. Soft lighting in general is one of the best smartphone photography aesthetics.
Because I got such good results for shooting on these times, I did not expand my creativity. I avoided capturing images in the afternoon on a sunny day, for example, even if I had an interesting scene. This created many ruined opportunities.
After having enough experience, I decided to give up all the advice I was taught earlier. If the picture did not work, it was not a problem. However, I will try not to get upset.
6
Gear matters beyond only a certain point
As a photographer, the number of marketing messages from you is absurd to dodge you. Every smartphone company claims that its camera is the best ever, while camera manufacturers, of course, also try to sell their products. If you are not careful then this decision can give rise to paralysis and indifference.
As a fond, I found that the gear does not matter much. Provided that you have a modern smartphone, you can take excellent pictures. Simple editing smartphone can also make DSLR-quality.
If you want to be a supporter, yes -the gier matters. But to take pictures as a hobby, you do not need to worry too much about it. It is better to just go out and hold images.
7
Editing your photos is not deception
Many purist think that editing photos are cheating, and I fell for it for so long. However, the truth is that even the best cameras do not always keep the scene in the same way you saw it. To give your own perception, editing photos is often a requirement.
Photography is art, and art is subjective. If I think editing is necessary, I have no problem in adjusting my images. Some require more work than others; I don’t think there is a need to follow a particular formula.
8
Always backup your favorite pictures
I always exempted the importance of supporting my favorite images until I dropped my old external HDD one day. In a partition second, I lost many photos – some of the recent trips including which I had not yet edited. It was naturally annoying, and it really emphasized the importance of keeping everything back.
Nowadays, I always support my images. Since you can install a backup strategy within 10 minutes, there is no excuse. In addition to iCloud, I put my favorite photos on the external drive, if I need them. In addition, I will also return them to Google Drive.
9
Taking photography break is a good idea
On the one hand, I love taking photos and do it without the need to tell me to me. But at the same time, I sometimes require a break; After capturing images every day for a year, I definitely needed some time and to get new ideas.
Already, I felt as if I needed to take photos all the time. Now, however, I think I am very creative when I break. Since I enjoy photography, I know that I will pick it up soon.
With this balance, new approaches have become very easy to develop and, as a result, create better art.
10
Twitter the default settings of your device when needed
Default camera settings are usually fine to start. However, I once wanted to make twics to decide to take things more seriously. Simple adjustment, such as turning on my camera grid, created a big difference.

Change these iPhone settings for stunning night photos
Your iPhone camera can do better – if you set it right.
This tip also applies to full-frame and DSLR cameras. On my full-frame camera, for example, I changed the default file type to get better editing results. Despite your device, I recommend experimenting with various settings to determine what the best works for you.
