I tried the meta ray-ban display glass, and they got excited for the post-smartphone era

On Wednesday, I got a new meta ray-ban display glass in Meta Connect 2025. And when they go a long way by changing your smartphone, they are enough to clarify that smart glasses are much better when they include head-up displays.

With what I experienced on Wednesday, we are definitely taking a step towards a world where we spend less time with our head buried in our smartphone.

At the company’s headquarters on Wednesday evening in Meta Connect Keenote, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that we have lost something as a society with the spread of smartphones. Meta hopes that smart glasses can help people restore what has been lost, allowing people to live more often.

Meta is trying to do this by releasing its next generation glasses with a bright, full-fledged performance and a smart restband that reads the subtle gestures from your hand and can not make many new tasks possible in a pair of smart glasses so far.

Zuckerberg was clearly more stinging about the launch of Meta Ray-Ban display glasses than anything declared in Meta Connect 2025.

“We have been working on glasses for 10 years in Meta, and this is one of those special moments,” Zuckerberg said. “I’m really proud of it, and I really proud to achieve this.”

Glasses will be retail for $ 799, including both glasses and restband. They come in two colors, shiny black and a transparent light brown, and all pairs have infection lenses. They will support the prescription lens between +4.00 to -4.00, but it is not clear how much prescription lens will add to the cost. To buy them, you have to go to a store to fit for a restband.

According to Meta, glasses have a 6-hour mixed-utilization battery life and the 18-hour battery life in the restband. The glasses are water-resistant while the restband has an IPX7 rating for temporary immersion in water. The product comes to the shops on 30 September and at that time you can go and buy the best, sunglasses hut, lenscrafts and a demo on the ray-ban store. They will eventually be available at some Verizon stores.

Meta Ray-Bains likes to wear a display glass

These meta ray-ban display glasses weigh 69 grams, so they are slightly larger than audio-kel meta re-ban which weigh 49 grams. However, when I did not find them heavy to wear them and I regularly saw any difference from regular meta re-ban, which I wear almost daily.
These meta ray-ban display glass has an full-colored screen in the right eye and the display sits slightly away in the side so that it does not distract you. It outputs up to 5,000 notes of brightness- bright or even Apple Watch Ultra- so that you can see the display that you are inside or outside. Meta used a liquid crystal on the Silicon display and one of the most notable things about it is that the person you are seeing, cannot see that when they are looking at you, it does not become a distraction.

Glasses have a complete operating system that is a complete operating system to capture photos and videos, listen to music, apply live caption during conversation, get visual response to AI questions, attach to WhatsApp messaging and allow AI to use AI to allow notes to use notes on important conversations.

Also: I tried smart glasses with an underlying performance, and they defeated Mere Meta Re-Bamboo in major ways.

The primary way you interact with new smart glasses is using one EMG neural restband This smart glasses are more as a success as performance. Within 5–10 minutes of using the restband, I was taking a pinch with my thumb and middle finger to go back, swipe on the screen with my thumb, was taking a pinch with his forearm and thumb to choose things, and a pinch with my index finger and thumb and a setting up with thumb and turning on a setting up or volume.

Zuckerberg called Ristband the “world’s first mainstream nerve interface”.

The restband is made of a strong fabric content in itself and uses a combination of a metal cinch and magnets to fit snuggly around your wrist. I found that it is very comfortable, and within a few minutes I did not think of being on my wrist.

The display is quite clear and easy to read in itself, although many times I found that my right eye is closing your left eye to see the screen more clearly through my right eye. But I liked to be able to frame and frame with the screen, exclusively before shooting or to adjust the frameing during video recording. You can also use a pinch-and-caste-twist gesture to zoom up to 3x. Then you can preview photos or videos on glasses and read them on social media without using your phone.

Also: Meta Ray-Ban vs. Okle: I tested both smart glasses, a clear winner.

One of the most clever things I saw that the glasses were trying to him in my time, that was a live captioning feature, where I identified the person as standing in front of me, on which I wanted, and it transferred only his words, ignoring the words in the conversation of other people in the same room.

You can easily imagine being in a noisy place and the device should only pay attention to the person you were talking to and transformed your words on the screen by depicting your words around you. In fact, it will be super helpful when to hold a significant conversation with someone in a loud room so that you can catch what you were saying.

It belongs to a new feature called a conversation focus, which is only on audio-kel smart glasses. This increases the audio of someone with whom you are speaking directly.

Jukarbeg and Bosworth Demo Meta Re-Ban Display Glasses

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and CTO Andrew Bosworth demo on the meta ray-ban display glasses on September 17, 2025 in 2025.

    Jason Hinar/ZDNET

Similarly, the meta ray-ban display glasses seemed better to act on my voice only when using the voice command and not distracted by the voices of the people around me, who were talking. This standard is a much more clever feature than the Meta Ray-Ban and Meta Okle Glass that are currently capable.

One of another smart things that I have seen came when the glasses came while indicating AI. I asked for a recipe of banana bread and AI went to the Internet and found one and then arranged it in a range of cards that I could swipe to see step by step. It would be great to use hands free in the kitchen instead of getting food on my phone, tablet or laptop.

Something else that seemed interesting, but I did not find to try, that was the ability to reply to a small text message using a hand with a wrist to write a letter and then allow the device to convert them into words in a message. It is like using an invisible stylus – certainly ready for testing. Other things that can do glasses can include a video calling their friends to see what you see and turn-by-turn turn turning directions (to start in 28 cities, because Meta is doing its own mapping).

Finally, Meta talked about Meta on stage, but I did not try, she was a live AI. The idea with this feature is that glasses can see what you see and hear what you hear. So you can start a live AI session when someone is going to give you some important information that you need to remember, such as instructions, clarifications, sharing an important idea, or a message to give someone else. Then, it can take the note, create a summary, take a record steps to remember, and usually make sure that you can correct it without remembering important details.

I am trying the Meta Ray-Bain Display Chashma in weeks and months and reporting back on what I learn. You can expert to see a lot of hand approach, review and feature breakdown on ZDNET. And keep an eye on, because we are also expecting too much smart glasses released in the next 6-12 months, including Google’s re-entry into space with new glasses operated by Android XR in the space.

    ZDNET purchase advice

Meta Ray-Bain Display Glasses There are an early adoption product, boarding on a dev kit. Let’s be honest that there is a ton to spend on a pair of $ 800 glasses. But wow, they are a future pair of glasses. We have to be honest that they are going to give you the taste of the future for the next year, but they can quickly finish quickly by other new products from Meta, Google and others within the next 12–18 months.

So if you buy them, you probably should not think of it as an investment in a pair of glasses, which you will wear for 2-3 years. You should be an early adoption that lives on the state -of -the -art edge of Tech and either wants or wants to stay out on the latest innovations because it is your job or your number 1 is a hobby.

If you buy a meta ray-ban display, my prediction is that you will probably wear them for a year before upgrading them to another pair of smart glasses that jump them. Then you will potentially pass them to family members, friends or colleagues. If you have never tried a pair of smart glasses before, I will advise Meta Ray-Ban Display Demo But start with solids Meta Ray-Ban Jean 2 Glass Or new Meta Okle Mohra Glasses (If you are more sporty) to take a first look at smart glasses experience.
