When I first unboxed my Merch Mini Staper and Merch ladder climber (later after sale), the manufacturer’s claims about “Whisper-Quit Operation” looked great to come true. As a person who lives in a small apartment with thin walls and has an equally thin patience from my neighbors, the noise level of any exercise tool is a make-or-break factor for me. So I wanted to conduct a proper test: I would use these two stapers throughout the film how calm they are really.

My original plan was to test these machines, while my partner was sleeping, but then I realized that he is such a deep sleeper, my conclusions would be inconclusive. Instead, I chose for my experiment on Monday night, settling to see “The Grand Budapest Hotel”. I wanted anything with enough communication and quiet moments to clear any exercise tool noise clearly. My living room setup is quite specific: hard wood flooring, a couch of about six feet from my TV, and walls that increase every map from the top of the apartment.
I tested both devices, as they are very interchangeable in my eyes, as I explain here and here in my reviews. Both fall under the category of “stapers”. A mini is and focuses more on your calves, while a mountaineer has more and targets your glutes. Neither exercise are “severe” pieces of equipment, but they are not doing anything sitting on the couch.
I started with the ladder climber, put it in front of my couch, placed the amount of TV at its normal level (about 30%on my sound bar). After about 30 minutes, I switched the machines.

I promise that I saw a film and did not see on the empty screen.

As soon as the initial credits roll, I took a second to smooth and control the step speed. At this point, the most prominent sound was really my own breath. The ladder mountaineer produced only a subtle mechanical sound – infectious back and forth for an office chair. On that note …
Real world noise assessment
To keep the noise level in perspective, I compared it to other domestic sounds throughout the evening. Stappers are equal:
-
My refrigerator’s compressor cycling
-
Kitchen dishwasher
-
Rain petting against windows
-
The normal neighbor of me roams the normal
Only when I became a hyperware of the mechanical sounds of Stapper, it was during the most silent moments of the film – they used to stop dramatic, where the background music of the film was nothing.
What do you think so far?
The most impressive aspect for me was not just minimal noise, but the floor lacks vibration transfer. Despite my apartment’s Cracky Hardwood floor, there were no additional squirts or vibrations that would travel to neighboring units. The rubber -based base of the stepper effectively separated any movement from the floor from the bottom.
Any kind of fast step, however, naturally produces more noise. Especially with a mini stapper, the hydraulic system produces a hymns that does not go well with a cool film.
Decision
After about two hours of continuous use, I can confidently say that Merch Mini Stapper and Staircase climbers live for their cool operation claims. These devices successfully passed that I now consider the final apartment-friendly test: the ability to exercise during a dialogue-water film without remembering a single funny exchange. In addition, after one hour of steps (some mini, some climb), I can safely say that I found a surprisingly good low -impact workout.
So, will the Merch Mini Stapper and Ladder Mountaineer change your body? No, but will they interrupt your film? Not even. And want to exercise while watching TV without harassing neighbors, thin walls, or simply without harassing others, which is definitely worth celebrating the absence of noise.
