My Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Review was mostly very positive, and it is undoubtedly one of the phones so far, but not everything about the handset has enough to land with me. In particular, S Penn seems to be somewhat meaningless – and I have not taken the integrated accessory out of its slot since writing my reviews.
Sleek Styles has been around since 2011, when it made its debut with the Samsung Galaxy Note – when the “phablet” was a form factor. After the Note series was closed with Note 20 in 2020, S Penn was supported by the Galaxy S21 Ultra in 2021, next year before receiving his dedicated slot on Galaxy S22 Ultra.
The S Penn has also been supported for years on a series of Samsung Tablet, laptops and foldables. Now, however, the second is getting out of favor: it is not supported on the latest Galaxy Z fold 7, and Samsung cut some of its characteristics with the Galaxy S25 Ultra version.
After using the Galaxy S25 Ultra, I am not surprised that Samsung is scaling back the functionality of S Pen – and I would not even be surprised if it was missing on the Galaxy S26 Ultra next year.
What are people using for this?

On the previous model of S Penn, with full Bluetooth functionality, you can use it as a remote to flutter or pursue slides in a presentation – Samsung dug with the latest stylus among some of the features. Less than one percent The phone owners actually used them, apparently.
The ability to open apps through Bluetooth and trigger other tasks has also been lost, which means Samsung’s official list What you can actually do with S Pen, mostly about the characteristics that you don’t get. What is more, you cannot use an old S pen, such as the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the Galaxy S25 is included on the ultra.
There are some benefits: S Pen itself and the Galaxy S25 Ultra are lighter as a result, and the latest S pen no longer needs a battery, so there is no need to worry about charging it. Perhaps it now costs less in reducing Samsung, although there was no difference between the launch price of S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra.
Whatever is left is taking sketching and taking notes, as well as the basics of choosing buttons, menu, images and text using S Pen – I suspect that many people will just use their fingers and thumbs. Your mileage may be different, but I have not found myself pop in S Pen inside and outside the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Certainly, being able to take handwritten notes on the lock screen is like a work in a way, but it is certainly easy and more convenient to tap only instead. It is certainly what I do-Balle can accept and recognize handwritten text (including excellent Google), many best note-taking apps, and can turn it into a digital text.
What do you think so far?
This is good for digital art, at least

The best experience I have experienced with S Pen on my Galaxy S25 Ultra are with sketching small doodles. Drawing Assist, where you can sketch something and on-board AI can turn it into more whole picture, fun for about five minutes-although the results I rarely met which I was thinking in my mind.
I like drawing, however, and with S Pains it is much more pleasant and accurate than using a finger. Load a drawing app on a note app or Android, and S Pen starts to be really useful, whether you want to make a florchor of ideas, or a design mockup, or simply a little comic strip.
There are more quality drawing apps on Android as much as you can feel. The choice of Infinite painter, SketchbookAnd KeritaFor example, and Adobe simply resumed Photoshop for Android. All these are capable of creating professional-level artwork, and using them with S Pen really enhances the general experience.
You are probably not going to do a lot of such work on your mobile phone, and professional creative would definitely like to use a large canvas – so it is a shame in this regard that this year has been dropped by Samsung’s foldables. He said, I bet that most foldable owners would like a thin tool and a long battery life.
There is no doubt that there are people who use S Pen on their Samsung Galaxy phones, but I think it is a shrinking fraction of overall users. If removing S Pen from the Galaxy S26 Ultra means that the device can be benefited in terms of design and battery capacity, I think Samsung will go for it.
