In the history of two long established organizations- Etah Kapa Nu (HKN) Honor SocietyEstablished in 1904, and IEEE, formed in 1963–15 years, may not look too long. Since his merger in 2010, however, more than 40,000 members have been included in IEEE-HKN, 57 chapters have been formed (out of which 30 are outside the United States), and the US has been more than $ 4 million to support the next generation of engineering leaders.
On 14 February 2009, Etah Kappa Nu signed a merger agreement with IEEE. It became effective on 1 September 2010, making HKN IEEE’s official honor society.
IEEEE-HKN recognizes scholarship and educational excellence, identifies eminent scholars in student leaders, young professionals and technical fields of IEEE.

In honor of the milestone anniversary, IEEE-HKN is hosting the ceremony at several IEEE celebrations worldwide.
IEEE-HKN is also excited about its second annual international Hackathon 14 to 23 November, in which teams of student members of IEEE and Honor Society work together, which currently uses engineering principles to solve the problem facing society. Read about its first hackathon held last year.

IEEEE-HKN students provide more than 100,000 hours of service per year through stem outreach and community service activities to their fellow students, local preceding students.”
Bentley states that the commitment “aligns with the spirit of the volunteers of IEEE, its members gave their profession their time.”
He says that he sees HKN’s service mentality as an important element in the ability to promote engagement and create a community-resulting in high percentage of IEEEE-HKN students who live beyond their students years.

Cooperation EEEE-HK enhancement fuel
In addition to alignment of values of IEEE and HKN, merger provides ongoing opportunities for cooperation.
This is evident in the growing partnership between the student branches of two organizations, which is dedicated over 18,000 hours to jointly plan and execute 279 events last year, increased by 36 percent in 2023.
Partnership with IEEE Society is also increasing. Last year, more than 20 societies financially subsidized Student leadership conferenceThe members of the society are more economical for students to participate, giving the opportunity to share the technical and career knowledge of the real world with the next generation of engineering leaders.
