Intel announced the end of the clear Linux OS project, the archives github representative

The Clear Linux OS team has announced the closure of the project, marking the end of their 10-year existence in the open-source ecosystem.

Clear Linux is a Linux distribution developed and maintained by Intel, which features aggressive adaptation to Intel hardware. The binergies are compiled using a clearly designed tuning flag for the Intel CPU.

It was a minimum, modular OS that used software bundles for fast app installation and automated performance tuning for optimal speed and power efficiency.

The distribution was mainly aimed at software developers, performance enthusiastic and cloud or server environment.

In an announcement of clear Linux forums, the team says that the project will no longer get security patch or any other update. Therefore, its user base security should be migrated to other distribution for security.

“Immediately effective, Intel will no longer provide safety patches, updates or maintenance to clear Linux OS, and the clear Linux OS Githb Repository will be stored in only-round mode,” Reads the announcement,

“Therefore, if you are currently using clear Linux OS, we recommend planning your migration for a more actively maintained Linux distribution to ensure strong safety and stability.”

However, Intel did not officially explain why it is closing the project, it may be due to the adoption of a low user with a high maintenance burden.

Given that clear Linux OS depends on its own package management and updated system, as it is not any other distribution fork, it required enough engineering resources to provide user assistance.

Another major point may be to consolidate Intel’s ongoing efforts and Tighten its operationScale back niche back internal projects that do not provide strategic value, and focus more on new goals, such as Agent AI,

Although the clear Linux OS has now been abandoned, the team behind it says that it will be invested in Linux Ecosystem and will continue to provide Intel hardware adaptation that can be applied to other distribution and open-source software.

If you rely on the obvious Linux OS, you are recommended to migrate to second delivery as soon as possible, as the lack of updates means that the system will be unsafe for faults with known/public adventures in a short time.
