The next generation of Qi 2.2 wireless charging may soon be on us, thanks to the regulatory filing discovered at Taiwan’s NCC certification site. This will update the Qi wireless charging standard, and we can see it on the iPhone 17 model later this year.
Viewed by 91mobiles.com The filing reveals two new Magsef Charger models (A3502 and A3502). Both models appear to support the new Qi 2.2. Standard.
Depending on the images in the filing, models appear to be beautiful standard white Pak chargers with a USB-C cable tailed in lengths of 2 and 1-meter.
New with 2.2 What is new that the test showed that it could support up to 50W charging output. For comparison, QI 2 tops the standard 15W.
Current iPhone 16 models support Magsafe charging upgrade with 30W charger, and can get up to 25W. Qi 2.2. Chargers double.
According to testing documents, new chargers were recently tested on equipment as iPhone 16 and are chronic as iPhone 11. Apple’s magsafe charging was first introduced in 2020 with the iPhone 12.
This indicates that Qi 2.2. Chargers will have widespread compatibility, obviously the charging speed will be limited on old equipment.
Additionally, 2.2. Originally comes with “better magnetic alignment”, which means iPhones should do faster and better on charger. It is considered more efficient with “unnecessary power loss or heat production”.
While the iPhone does not support 16 Qi 2.1, it is likely that the upcoming iPhone 17 models will support QI 2.2. If the test is already being ahead of the general September launch window.
