At 9:07 am, openi revealed that it identified the root cause of the issue and was working on fixing the problem. Till 10:54 pm, the company said that it continued to work on fix and was watching some recovery for its API. However, complete recovery in all its services including chat and Sora may take another hour, Openai said.
By 2 pm after the initial outage, openi reported that it was still monitoring the fix and working towards a complete recovery.

Beyond the chatgpt, my favorite Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Ethropic’s Claude AI, and Perplexity. For general questions and requests, Gemini is what I usually use. If I am in an interesting and informative voice conversation mood, I will directly fire Copilot into the windows. Both Gemini and Copilot come in free and paid versions, but should be able to handle any challenge you throw for free.
