- Digital scams are now considered as just one threat to other crimes.
- AVAST survey claims that 3 in 3 Brits have fallen victim to online scams
- 466% increase in fishing has been observed by quarterly
If you feel that digital scams are growing, then you are not alone – 92% of the UTs in a new survey by Avast and Neberhood Watch believes that cybercrime is a threat as another type of crime.
One of the three respondents states that they individually suffer from cyber criminal, and many of them have suffered financial losses at the hands of digital scammers.
In particular, the fishing scams are increasing, 466% increase with a quarter-by-witted. The increase in fishing scams is largely attributed to AI, to send more frequent and more sophisticated social engineering attacks to avail AI equipment with criminals. With AI, it takes fraudsters for the craft campaign in a few minutes who would have taken the first day.
High financial loss
Unexpectedly, Brits are also losing more money, 59% of the victims have been lost to £ 500. Women generally lose more under £ 500, and men are more likely to have high losses (between £ 501 and £ 2000, and £ 2000+).
“Cyber criminals use rapidly sophisticated strategy, living online is no longer alternative – especially difficult to spot the scam and is now danked around every digital corner,” Luis Koron said, security for the avast.
The key is being alert, to protect yourself from cyber attacks, especially engineering attacks. Any unheard communication, especially email or texts to be well examined to ensure that a call to action (ie ‘change your password now’).
Be very careful of anyone who claims to be a family member or friend, especially given the developments in deep-hungry technologies. Voice and images can be cloned or thrown, so do not send money to anyone you are not 100% sure that is real.
