
Japan’s top-bored beer-maker, Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. (ASAI) has revealed a cyber attack that has disrupted many of its tasks.
According to the company, the incident has affected its ordering and shipping activity, which has been completely suspended. Call center operations and customer service desk are currently unavailable to the public due to cyber attack.
Asahi is one of Japan’s largest brooage, which is one -third of the domestic market share. It employs 30,000 people, produces 100 million hectares of beverages, and in 2024 the company reported an annual revenue of about 20 billion USD.
Internationally, the company has four regional branches (Japan, Europe, Oceania and Southeast Asia) and it maintains a strong appearance through high-profile acquisitions that were created over the years, catching brands such as Peroni, Pilsner Urkel, Growls, and Fullers.
Earlier today, Asahi’s Japanese headquarters reported that the cyber attack only influenced the Japan-based operation. It is not clear whether the data has been exposed or stolen, as the investigation is on.
“Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. is currently experiencing a system failure due to a cyber attack affecting operations in Japan,” Company states In an announcement published on his site today.
“At this time, there is no confirmation of personal information or customer data for external parties.”
The company apologized to customers and business partners for inconvenience.
Asahi says they are investigating the source of disintegration and it is working to restore the affected operation, but did not provide a time -line for recovery.
According to some sources, the attack started at 7 am and there is no details about the danger actor or initial access vector.
Bleepingcomputer contacted ASAI as to whether a system was encrypted to determine whether a ransom payment has been sought by a hacker group, but a comment was not immediately available.
Currently, no ransomware gang has publicly claimed an attack.
